New 'Dredd' Trailer Looks Pretty Cool, Actually

Don't watch if you're not prepared to have all of your preconceived notions rocked to their cores. Moviegoers could be forgiven for assuming that anything with the word "Dredd" in the title is a piece of shit, thanks to notably shitty piece of shit Judge Dredd starring Sylvester Stallone. But if you dig a little deeper, you'll find that the comics featuring the Judge Dredd character are pretty well-respected, and now this trailer comes out and actually looks really cool and I don't know what to think anymore. As if that weren't enough, this trailer also has Olivia Thirlby, famous for playing sweet smartasses in stuff like Juno and The Wackness doing what can be called for lack of a better term "kicking ass." The lesson is clear: Don't watch the trailer for Dredd if you're not prepared to have all of your preconceived notions rocked to their cores. Or if you don't like guns.

Extended 'Elysium' Trailer: Matt Damon Has Cool Bullets

Eat your heart out, Judge Dredd. Eat your heart out, Judge Dredd. The more that we see, the more it looks like Elysium will probably be this summer's best movie. Matt Damon stars as a guy trying to stay out of trouble on Shitty Future Earth who has to resort to extreme measures when an industrial accident leaves him with only five days to live. Those extreme measures involve an exoskeleton, explode-y bullets, and breaking into Rich Person Space Station Land where they have cures for every disease just laying around. Too bad for them there is no cure for Matt Damon shoving a gun down their throat.

Get Judgmental With This 'Dredd 3D' Clip

They misspelled "dread," but the more I think about it, the more I think that may have been intentional. September 21st won't be just the autumnal equinox (which is totally awesome on its own merits), but also the release date for a film featuring an old friend of ours, Legendary Comics' Judge Dredd. Dredd 3D premieres that same day, offering up a darker take on the judge, jury, and executioner. Lest you think this is a tacked-on sequel rushed to meet 3D demand, the script is written by Alex Garland, who made a name for himself with 28 Days Later. In case you couldn't tell from the clip, the producers decided to take Judge Dredd in a younger, less mumbly direction with Karl Urban. His nemesis will be played by a prostitute-turned-drug kingpin. And while it would be funnier if that character was a former gigolo, it's a girl, played by Juno's Olivia Thirlby. So open your eyes, get your tickets, and realize that Judge Dredd isn't living in 1994 anymore.

Comic-Con 2012: Party's Over In New 'Dredd' Clip

Jeez, what a narc. Comic-Con 2012 has also brought us this first clip from the upcoming Dredd. Here we see Karl Urban judging, jurying, and executing all over the place as he busts in on some tweakers and crashes the party. And their faces. Slow motion in action movies gets a pretty bad rap, but here it works really well. If they truly invented a drug that made the world look like it was shot with the Phantom camera, I'd try it. Oh wait. Am I addicted already? They say the first hit's free. When's this movie come out?!? My skin itches and I want to ride the snake to Valhalla!

Watch Salma Hayek Go Apesh*t With A Machine Gun In The 'Everly' Trailer

'Everly' is a terrible name for an action film, BTW. There's a lot that looks good about Everly. It's an (Asian?) action film starring Salma Hayek in the vein of The Raid or Dredd, in which the protagonist is pretty much fighting like a video game character, advancing from one room or level to the next. That's all cool. Hayek plays a former prostitute turned informant who appears to have a mortal wound as she fights to get some cash for some unknown beneficiary. The country of origin isn't exactly clear from the trailer either. It looks American, with Asian actors, and subtitles. However, it's an American movie, though it hides the fact well, save for the cheesy one-liners. Anyway: Everly looks good and you should watch it when it comes out on February 27th.

'Terra Nova' Dystopia Trailer Shows Off Really Cool iPads

The future looks simultaneously awesome and terrible. This new look at Fox's "Terra Nova" teaches us that though the characters live in a dystopian shit-pit where you need to wear dirty breathing masks and huddle together for warmth, the technology is still totally awesome. Look at that tablet! It's totally transparent. That way everyone on the train will know that you're secretly looking at photos of Blake Lively. Even their Stargates look cooler!! Why would anyone want to leave that place? Sure, the air sucks and the lighting makes reading difficult but at least you can play Portal.

'The Lego Movie' Falls To Pieces In Blooper Reel

Learn your lines, Morgan Freeman! When you're making a movie there are bound to be some flubs, blubs, bloopers, and gaffes. Sometimes that's just a matter of Steve Carell getting the giggles or Morgan Freeman getting cranky or Christian Bale threatening to shit down the DP's neck. Why should The Lego Movie be any different? Honestly, though, wouldn't this have been so much better if Billy Dee Williams had gone nuts and threatened to start shitting down necks?

Here's The Trailer For The New HBO Series From Mike Judge, 'Silicon Valley'

Nerds with their glasses and their computers and their nerdiness. Next month, Mike Judge is bringing us an HBO series that takes a look at Silicon Valley not from the perspective of the trailblazers who brought about computing as we know it, but the kids from a generation and half later. The ones who are taking that spirit and asking themselves, "How can I leverage this for money and fame?" It's Mike Judge, so it's best to not ask any questions and just get your hopes up. The series will star Thomas Middleditch, Martin Starr, Josh Brener, and Kumail Nanjiani.
