Links Away: Where Do Your Eyes Go During a Movie?

Ever found your eyes darting around the screen during a movie and thought to yourself “I wonder if I could quantify my eye movement via computer analysis?” Neither have most people, but the science folks over at The Diem Project took it upon themselves to answer the question for us. As it turns out, it’s actually pretty cool. This video is the result of some of their research.

According to Diem Project representatives, “This is an excerpt from There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson, 2007). 11 adult viewers were shown the video and their eye movements were recorded using an Eyelink 1000 (SR Research) infra-red camera-based eyetracker. Each dot represents the center of one viewer’s gaze. The size of each dot represents the length of time they have held fixation.”

Crazy cool. (BuzzFeed)
