Get Judgmental With This 'Dredd 3D' Clip

They misspelled "dread," but the more I think about it, the more I think that may have been intentional. September 21st won't be just the autumnal equinox (which is totally awesome on its own merits), but also the release date for a film featuring an old friend of ours, Legendary Comics' Judge Dredd. Dredd 3D premieres that same day, offering up a darker take on the judge, jury, and executioner. Lest you think this is a tacked-on sequel rushed to meet 3D demand, the script is written by Alex Garland, who made a name for himself with 28 Days Later. In case you couldn't tell from the clip, the producers decided to take Judge Dredd in a younger, less mumbly direction with Karl Urban. His nemesis will be played by a prostitute-turned-drug kingpin. And while it would be funnier if that character was a former gigolo, it's a girl, played by Juno's Olivia Thirlby. So open your eyes, get your tickets, and realize that Judge Dredd isn't living in 1994 anymore.

New 'Dredd' Trailer Looks Pretty Cool, Actually

Don't watch if you're not prepared to have all of your preconceived notions rocked to their cores. Moviegoers could be forgiven for assuming that anything with the word "Dredd" in the title is a piece of shit, thanks to notably shitty piece of shit Judge Dredd starring Sylvester Stallone. But if you dig a little deeper, you'll find that the comics featuring the Judge Dredd character are pretty well-respected, and now this trailer comes out and actually looks really cool and I don't know what to think anymore. As if that weren't enough, this trailer also has Olivia Thirlby, famous for playing sweet smartasses in stuff like Juno and The Wackness doing what can be called for lack of a better term "kicking ass." The lesson is clear: Don't watch the trailer for Dredd if you're not prepared to have all of your preconceived notions rocked to their cores. Or if you don't like guns.

Comic-Con 2012: Party's Over In New 'Dredd' Clip

Jeez, what a narc. Comic-Con 2012 has also brought us this first clip from the upcoming Dredd. Here we see Karl Urban judging, jurying, and executing all over the place as he busts in on some tweakers and crashes the party. And their faces. Slow motion in action movies gets a pretty bad rap, but here it works really well. If they truly invented a drug that made the world look like it was shot with the Phantom camera, I'd try it. Oh wait. Am I addicted already? They say the first hit's free. When's this movie come out?!? My skin itches and I want to ride the snake to Valhalla!

New Video Shows How Judgmental Netflix's 'Are You Still Watching?' Can Be

We've all been there... Anyone who has Netflix is undoubtedly familiar with the binge-watching feature that allows episodes to seamlessly play one after the other, only to ask "Are you still watching?" after every fourth or so. Presumably in an effort to save data and power, but practically as a Jiminy Cricket on your shoulder, suggesting that it's a nice day outside or that Monet exhibit is only around for two more weeks. We disappoint it a little bit when we have to inform it, "Yeah, we're still watching. This is what our day's gonna be, jerk," but that's the nature of the energy-saving feature, now isn't. (A.V. In This 'Pound Of Flesh' Clip, JCVD Tracks Down The People Who Stole His Organs

An organ-less Jean-Claude Van Damme taking to the streets is terrifying. Do you like Jean-Claude Van Damme? Nevermind. Just keep reading regardless of how you would have answered this. He's stepping out in a new, slightly less self-aware film called Pound of Flesh, in which the Belgian action star wakes up in the familiar tub full of ice, only to discover his kidney has been jacked. There's a wrinkle to this otherwise run-of-the-mill organ theft story: HIS DYING NIECE NEEDS THAT KIDNEY! They pissed off the wrong aging Belgian action star this time. Maybe he could just go down this route: (THR)

Comic-Con 2011: Mike Judge Unveils New 'Beavis And Butt-Head' Footage

Beavis and Butt-Head are back, and somehow, they're now smarter than most shows on television.... For fans of Beavis And Butt-Head, there was much to rejoice about during day one of Comic-Con 2011. Well, for most fans, anyway. Unfortunately, this fan spent the entire panel waiting just outside the door, listening to everyone else laugh while I prayed for a few people to give up their seats. As with most of my desperate prayers, this one went unanswered, and I never gained entry. But my bad luck (a.k.a. poor planning) won't stop me from bringing you this clip from the new show. From the looks of it, the new version stays true to the original. By "stays true," I mean the two hapless teenagers are still laughing like morons and maiming each other. And sadly, culture has devolved even further than anticipated since the original show went off the air, which means that the duo now have plenty of new material to ridicule (i.e. Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, UFC matches, etc.). What a sad age we live in.

Thor Gets His Asgard Tasered In New Clip

Thor has fought monsters, mutants and supervillains. In this clip, we see what kind of incredible firepower it takes to bring down the Thunder God... namely, a taser. Thor' target='_blank'>Thor-2' target='_blank'>Thor-smuggles-in-blurry-images-from-asgard/">Thor has fought monsters, mutants and supervillains. In this clip, we see what kind of incredible firepower it takes to bring down this demi-god... namely, a taser. A chick with a taser. This clip from Kenneth Branagh's Thor shows the Marvel hero (played by Chris Hemsworth) getting his butt kicked easily after landing on Earth and making demands. I lol'd. Maybe it undercuts the seriousness of his godhood, but I'm not fond of this plague of boring, hyper serious posters for the film anyway. Nice to know even the gods have a sense of humor. Of course, as I'm sure the filmmakers are aware, a little of this goes a long way. I'm not excited to see Thor crush his foot with his hammer and hop around squealing "ouch," like something out of a Tim Allen movie. Thor descends into theaters April 27th, along with Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins.

Weep Joyfully At Pixar’s ‘Up’ Recreated Using 1960s Movie Clips

Spencer Tracy plays Carl Fredricksen, complete with giant hipster old person glasses, in this expertly-done recreation of the 'Up' trailer story using live action film footage. Here's the internet mashup that'll make you cry. Well, it'll make you cry if you remember watching the original Up, and I don't think there was a dry pair of 3D glasses in the theater I was in after Ellie kicks the bucket. From Ivan Guerrero, the maker of "Ghostbusters Trailer Recreated Using Old Movie Clips" and "Empire Strikes Back Trailer Recreated Using Old Movie Clips" comes, wait for it, "Up Trailer Recreated Using Old Movie Clips." Spencer Tracy plays Carl Fredricksen, complete with giant hipster old person glasses, in this expertly-done "premake" of Pixar's story using live action film footage. They even managed to find a solid look-alike for Kevin the Freaky-Ass Looking Bird. Next, someone will probably swede Guerrero's remake trailers, and after that, the universe collapses in on itself. 'Attack The Block' Clip Demonstrates Their Need For Weapons

Best think twice before attackin' this block. Since premiering back at SXSW in March, the buzz around Attack the Block has reached a slow simmer in anticipation of its July 29th limited release date. The "neighborhood teens vs. aliens" plot seems to play both straight and campy, offering a little something for everyone. Though there isn't any action in this clip, it sets the table nicely for an intergalactic showdown between hoodlums and space invaders. Apparently, the sets and action are top-notch, but you'll just have to take the reviewers' word for it as this clip is more a tension-building device than anything else. So go ahead and appreciate the exposions and action that AREN'T in this clip.
