The actor was chased and beaten by Chinese security personnel. Christian Bale is in China doing press for his latest film The Flowers of War. Set in 1937, Bale plays a Westerner posing as a priest in order to save a group of Chinese women from the rape of Nanking. While doing press for the film, Bale traveled to the home of Chen Guangcheng, a civil rights activist who has spent the past year under house arrest. However, in his attempt he was attacked by China's secret police before getting involved in a 30 minute car chase. Not cool, China. None of us were big fans of Equilibrium, but you really took that dislike too far. (CNN)
You only thought you knew the origin of Spider-Man... Not to be outdone in the week that brings us a final Dark Knight Rises trailer and the release of The Avengers, Sony is back with another trailer for this summer's The Amazing Spider-Man. Here we're pulled into Peter Parker's world as he web-slings high about the streets of.... Neo-Tokyo? I guess that's the super-slick Hollywood version of New York City. Filmed on location in the Neon Skyscraper District. In addition to the action, we're also given a glimpse of the mystery. Who is that raspy-voiced, shadowy figure demanding to know if Dr. Curt Connors told Peter the truth about his father. Is it Norman Osborne? Peter's dad?? Denis Leary after a heavy smoking day??? All will be revealed when The Amazing Spider-Man opens in theaters on June 30th.

Enjoy some Cajun-style meth. Dumb and Dumber To hit theaters late last night, and enjoys its widespread release today. We thought you should know of one fun cameo in the film that would likely go by unnoticed. And if you think this is a spoiler, I have some choice words for you. This is not a spoiler. This doesn't affect the plot, and no one was going to recognize Bill Murray's voice through a muffled plastic suit. That is all. Beyond that, Murray is just one of many, many people making cameos in the film. While we don't have an exhaustive list, we do know that Jennifer Lawrence's name has been thrown around a lot. But her name is always thrown around. She's Jennifer Lawrence. Take a look and enjoy a cat's butt for a second.
Seann William Scott vs. Liev Schreiber. It's like the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, except no one asked for it. Judging by its trailer, the hockey comedy Goon looks to be a strange film. It's got all the hallmarks of comedy (slapstick, Stifler, Eugene Levy), but it doesn't appear to be funny. In its defense, it's not clear that the film is trying to be funny, either. What is it about hockey comedies that aren't funny? Slap Shot, Mystery, Alaska, and now this film. In any event, Goon tells the story of bouncer Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott), who plays hockey as an enforcer, ruling the roost until he gets called up to the next league, where he's outclassed by the like of Liev Schreiber's Ross Rhea. They also drink a lot, and he sleeps with a girl that looks an awful lot like Zooey Deschanel, but isn't. This is a hard movie to peg. Check out the trailer and see if you can do a better job than I can.
Ever since Shaun Of The Dead, people have wondered, "Hey, when will we get something else like Shaun Of The Dead?" The answer is, right now. Ever since Shaun Of The Dead, people have wondered, "Hey, when will we get something else like Shaun Of The Dead?" The answer is, right now. The producers of that film are back with Attack The Block. The Inner City takes on Outer Space when an alien species heretofor unknown to science attacks project housing in South London. The residents rise up to become unlikely heroes although they'd rather stay home and play FIFA. You may be curious why Nick Frost appears as a guy who pals around with children but you can relax. He's merely there to sell them drugs. No funny stuff. It looks like fun summer entertainment. Early reviews are great, so here's hoping it does well with American audiences as well. Otherwise, it will be filed away with Club Dread in the Films We Never Speak Of bin. (Empire)
Those are some odd hobbies. As we learned with Star Wars Minus Williams, real life doesn't have pulse-pounding musical accompaniment to mask the awkwardness of our whistling noses and odd grunts. It turns out that when you take away MacGyver's theme song, the resourceful Canadian hero becomes nothing more than an odd man with strange habits and really great hair. Not as weird as celery up the butt, but weird nonetheless.
