The gods have been kind to us today. Here we have a first look at the new A&E reality series Steven Seagal: Lawman. Now that he's run out of C-Level rappers to co-star with, Seagal has been moonlighting with a New Orleans Sheriff's Department between film roles. And this fall we get to go on a ride along. Although the show is probably heavily staged, it's still more exciting than the alternative idea they were tossing around, Steven Seagal: Catsitter. You can take these links to the bank. August 24th, 2009 at 03:22 pm Idiots. There is no sheriff's department in New Orleans. Seagal is a deputy (yes, a real one) with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department. Go ahead. Verify it. Has been for a while. Works Mardi Gras details with the rest of the troops and really has been involved in day-to-day patrols. I'm not defending the show, as I abhor reality television as a solution to Hollywood's utter lack of originality. Additionally, Seagal is a douchebag. Good cop, but still a douchebag.

October 5th, 2009 at 01:23 am He's too fat to chase crooks..he has stunt doubles for all his straight to Video movies now, he wears a girdle for god's sake...I guess the tac vest he wears as a cop can be used as a girdle. The man is a moral wreck, bigamist, sexual predator..links to the mob, to hiring a PI to intimidate reporters etc...it's all documented...so now he is a cop?! He's also a budist so not sure how that works with him slapping crooks around. As a former cop I find this insulting and I suspect he is an honorary cop who hasn't attended the academy, but mearly been given special position because of who he is, his friendship with the local Sheriff and because he gave free self defence training to the recruits 20 years ago. I liked his early films, but now he is a 57 year old joke....a parody of himself. Well...all I can say is I hope he doesn't have to do any foot pursuits or he may expire due to heart failure....

He may be out of shape, but his martial art uses the the momentum and force of the opponent against them. 6'5 and still pretty tough for his age, give some credit where due. When most of us are 60, likley very few of us would want to deal with criminals face to face and hand to hand, grow up!

I have been a cop for 20+ years and up till now only COMSTAT has been available for predicting criminal activity. I also need a hand held radio that you do not have to push the transmit button to broadcast your traffic. Just one less thing for this tired old cop. Well anyway, what he has done for the last twenty years is better then most department's COP programs. That's,"citizens on patrol." Oh, wait a minute. That's what he is doing.

February 4th, 2010 at 07:28 pm I would be on board with the idea if it was on the level but these situations look staged and they fail to follow procedure way too often. I like him as an actor but wish the show was more realistic oh I forgot to mention that he seems to be working with the oldest group of LEO's that I've ever seen assembled, I think they should call themselves the rocking chair brigade. Between the military and law enforcement I have 26 years experience.
