For a guy that's been living in the throes of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) since the 1960's, scientist Stephen Hawking certainly does get around in the world of entertainment, having made appearances on The Simpsons (four times), Futurama, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and countless documentaries.

Even with that resume, his nerd appeal is likely to grow even further as he preps fro an appearance on CBS' The Big Bang Theory, a show that tries a little too hard to be smart to be funny and a little too funny to be smart.

The 70 year-old will be showing off a new speaking device that has replaced his now-trademark robotic voice that he used to communicate.

BOOOOOOO!!!!! Bring back the robot voice! WE WANT THE ROBOT VOICE!

I might actually tune in (read: stream a scene on YouTube) to hear what he sounds like now. My hopes are on a Christopher Walken/Harvey Fierstein hybrid.
