They’re calling the six-episode run an “event series,” but I think that laying the word “event” over anything Spike TV has done might be a little ambitious. In fact, it’s probably erroneous. However, they’re getting a little help, God bless them, so let’s see where this goes.
The show will be produced by the same team who brought us The Kennedys on the History Channel, so we can continue to expect lewd behavior, assassinations, and general corruption. More specifically, the series will focus on Tut’s rise to power and the three advisors who tried to promote their own interests and ambitions through the king.
This show will join another series in development about Whitey Bulger, making Spike TV what we hoped the History Channel would never become, and thus making the History Channel something else entirely. Let’s say Ovation or something.
