The 1999 film Galaxy Quest was just a blip on the pop culture radar at the time, but it has stood the test of time with both fans of comedy and sci-fi. So it shouldn't be a huge surprise that the premise is now being worked into a TV treatment by Paramount, because, hey, better late than never.

In case you thought that Paramount would just strip the original for familiarity, then run in a new direction, they've got the feature's writer, director, and producer all on board for this remake, which should be just fine with fans of the film.

Paramount's also working up TV versions of School of Rock and the sniper film Shooter. It's not clear whether anyone has the appetite for all three, but Galaxy Quest sounds like the most bankable of those three, so the prospects are pretty good for a pickup.
