Finally, a TV show about police officers. NBC, you never stop pushing the envelope. Except this time, they did a little. While there's nothing progressive, or even interesting, about cop shows, NBC did manage to pick up an inspired show in"Grimm," a pilot in which the cops interact with characters inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. Because most childless adults have blurred the distinction between the Brothers Grimm, Aesop, and Mother Goose, here's an inexhaustive rundown of who these cops could be dealing with if and when this show gets picked up.

  • Sleeping Beauty

  • Hansel and Gretel

  • Cinderella

  • Little Red Riding Hood

  • Snow White

  • Rapunzel

  • And about 200 more

The team behind the development show is a mixed bag, with Sean Hayes from "Will & Grace" executive producing a script from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" vets David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf.

Will this concept hold up? It sounds promising, but will require a deft hand as having cops step into trite children's tales week after week doesn't sound like appointment television. However, the premise opens itself up to celeb cameos left and right. Michael Cera would make a great Hansel, but I would respectfully request that the producers kill him off by the end of the episode. (Deadline)
