If shows that are only told for the money should be canceled, what would we watch? What do you think TV shows are made for? And if a show can help a loser feel better, isn’t that a good thing even if they are making money in the process? By the way, you sound a little biased yourself. Have you ever even watched Glee?

Glee is the Obama of TV. All media spin, beloved by minions, and at the core is…godless and pathetic. and equates to the “Emperors New Clothes” syndrome.
Over-rated and uses “bully tactics” when it does not get it’s way.
Kudos to Slash and Kings of Leon for standing their ground.

somebody is a little biased, or was just picked on too much as a kid and thinks any show that addresses anything other than popular kids is somehow amazing. Truth be told all shows like glee should be canceled, all they do is play off of stupid people who fall for their empty morals when in reality its all about the money. that’s the real reason why ryan murphy is so pissed cuz he is beginning to run out of songs and ideas.

I’m a gay man and I don’t watch Glee and I think Ryan Murphy is kind of a douche. The only thing I will say is OF COURSE a seven year old would be watching Glee. It’s very simplistic and immature storytelling with lots of pretty colours and sappy songs, not that different than Sesame Street really. I would much sooner recommend the show to a seven year old than an adult.

Glee serves a much broader audience and message – joining a glee club isn’t the basis for story line, it is the metaphor for the message. Being an outcast and learning there is life after high school is — this is why there is such broad appeal. Perhaps you were one of the “cool kids” who never experience any of the humiliations or heart breaks that occur during these years. If so, rock on. For those of us who can identify with the message, we are glad to see alternative points of view presented for today’s kids.
Your points are well taken regarding music, bands and their right to choose whether to appear, but don’t broaden your judgements to include the story lines. They don’t target the 7 year old demographic. Like the music or don’t, but don’t generalize about a program that is taking on topics that need to be addressed.

Completely agree with this. He manages to ignore the fact that “Glee” incidentally gets higher ratings. But I’m sure he’s really just doing the show so a 7 year-old joins a glee club. I read in the NYT that depressed glee club participation is the reason that America isn’t held in such high regard as it once was.
