The good news is, Jon Hamm has plenty of time to figure out how to become a director before he has to step up. Perhaps the huge delay in season five was a factor in the producers putting Hamm behind the camera.

This isn't the first time that a cast member has stepped behind the camera. Fellow Mad Man John Slattery made the trip last season and the show managed to survive, so...good news. Hamm has been quoted as saying he views the opportunity "with a mixture of utter fear and excitement." Audiences probably view it the same well. Just kidding. It seems almost impossible for a director to screw up in a medium so driven by writing.

Look for Hamm's debut when"Mad Men" returns in 2178.
