George R.R. Martin Won’t Write A ‘Game Of Thrones’ Episode This Season, Because He’s Got Books To Finish

Tuesday, July 29 by

Every year, George R.R. Martin takes a break from not writing his A Song of Ice and Fire books to pen an episode of the TV adaptation, Game of Thrones. Maybe you’ve heard of it? And every season, you can bet that the episode Martin writes is a big one, with implications running through the rest of the series.

NOT THIS SEASON. Martin, who has been dealing with increasing criticism that he really needs to write these books before he dies, has opted out of writing an episode. Instead, he will focus on finishing The Winds of Winter, which is the next installment in the Song of Ice and Fire anthology.

For those unfamiliar, HBO’s Game of Thrones is based on Martin’s books, but the show seems to be adapting the books faster than Martin can make them. So, barring some glut of production from Martin, we will be forced to wait for him to write the books before more TV can be made. It’s crazy!

Waiting for a book for a TELEVISION SHOW? Everything is all crazy!

Keep writing, George. Faster.
