The broadcasters of quality programming like"Justified," "Archer," "Louie," and reruns of "Two and a Half Men" at FX have just given the green light to another possible series: A pilot based on "Powers," the comic by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. It's a "superhero detective" story that deals with "a homicide department devoted to cases that involve superheroes." I'm not familiar with the comic, but it reminds me of two comics by Alan Moore - "Top 10" and "Watchmen," the latter having already been adapted for the screen by Zack Snyder. And "Powers" has had a very long run of more than 10 years, so there's plenty of fodder for plotlines if the pilot gets picked up as a series.

The news came from Bendis' Twitter, on which he posted: "Powers pilot was just greenlit by FX. It's official! Your window of reading Powers while it was still cool is running out.” Damn it, Bendis, I was going to make that joke. (via The Hollywood Reporter)
