FX Has Received Our Letters And Will Now Give Us A Show Starring Billy Crystal

I think that tuxedo is actually fused to his body at this point.

FX has ordered The Comedians to series, a show about an aging comedian (Billy Crystal) and a young brash upstart from a different generation (Josh Gad). The show has been picked up for thirteen episodes, which means that Billy Crystal will be thawed out for four months or so for a non-Oscars event.

The show will premiere in 2015, and it isn’t really clear whether the show will be more comedic or dramatic, so we’ll just assume, like so many other shows these days, that it’s both or neither.

If it helps you prejudge this project, it’s being produced by Larry Charles from Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm (yay!) and Matt Nix, creator of Burn Notice (zuh?). Expect Billy Crystal to wear sunglasses and slide across a car hood in the first episode, then spend the remaining 12 rehabbing his hip injury he received while trying to slide across a car hood at his age.
