It's pretty amazing that Stephen Colbert had been able to continue his portrayal of a patriotic idiot for so long without offending anyone on a national level. I say "had" because those days are over.

In a story about Redskins owner Dan Snyder allocating resources to a foundation to benefit Native Americans, Colbert took a barb at the "Redskins" name by Tweeting "I am willing to show #Asian community I care by introducing the Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever."

Okay. That's pretty tasteless, even if it harkens back to a skit. And when something is tasteless, it becomes offensive, and when it becomes offensive, people on Twitter make a big fuss. Hence, #CancelColbert was trending last night.

Will Comedy Central Cancel Colbert? (WCCCC?)

No. But it's yet another instance that reminds us we shouldn't give the keys to the Twitter account until they've taken that diversity seminar.
