In case you needed more proof that the days of TV being a dumping ground for washed-up movie stars are over, take a look at True Detective, then at HBO's upcoming pilot Westworld. The new series, if picked up will star no less than Anthony Hopkins and noted Marilyn Manson-dater Evan Rachel Wood.

Westworld is a serial adaptation of a 1973 film written by Jurrassic Park's Michael Crichton. The film was set at an amusement park, but I'm thinking over the course of the series, they may need to leave the amusement park now and again. J.J. Abrams Bad Robot studios is producing, because that's what they do.

Hopkins will play the chairman of the park, and Wood will play a farm girl who discovers her life is a painfully constructed lie.

Sounds like an HBO show, all right!
