AMC has had a large enough roster of success recently (no thanks to Low Winter Sun), that they can afford to go in some different directions. And I would certainly consider a period piece drama about a shady doctor who steals people's organs to be a "different direction."

So enters Knifeman, the awesomely-named show that is based on the John Hunter biography The Knife Man: Blood, Body Snatching And The Birth Of Modern Surgery.

The best thing this should could have done is combine Knife Man into one word. Sexy.

John Hunter will be portrayed as an arrogant, charming surgeon, which sounds pretty trite, but whatever. I don't want to see a demure, awkward surgeon. If I wanted to do that, I would just head down to the emergency care place on Fairfax. The staff there is so weird.
