WHAT’S ON TONIGHT: THURSDAY, JULY 16th, 2009

Thursday, July 16 by

A classic horror hit, a neo-classical horror flick, a horrific look into the making of fast food, and a couple reruns of our favorite episodes of "The Office."  One of these things is not like the others, but all are equally worth your time.  Unlike communicating with your friends and family.  They don’t love you like your TV does.  Make sure you give back to it by watching these shows together.

FIND OUT WHAT TO WATCH AFTER THE JUMP…

ALL TIMES EASTERN AND PACIFIC

THE THING
Network:
Cinemax
Time: 8 – 10PM

Reasons to watch: John Carpenter’s remake of The Thing stands as one of the greatest horror films ever made. With horrific, cutting-edge special effects by Rob Bottin and a really big floppy hat worn by Kurt Russell, how could you resist? If you haven’t seen this, you need to. They should make viewing this a prerequisite for film school. Wilford Brimley co-stars.

MODERN MARVELS: FAST FOOD TECH
Network:
History Channel
Time:  8 – 9PM

Reasons to watch: The only thing more disgusting than the gory mutations in The Thing is where our favorite junk food comes from. Tonight Modern Marvels is giving you a behind the scenes look at how your favorite fast food is made. Not quite sure that I want to know who or what the McRib is made out of. As long as they’re covering it with barbeque sauce, I’m not asking any questions.

FINAL DESTINATION 2
Network: Syfy
Time: 7 – 9PM

Reasons to watch: If you’re a fan of the Final Destination series, this film is probably your favorite. Yes, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Yes, it’s kinda far-fetched. And yes, it was obviously filmed in Canada. BUT it’s a really fun movie and the effects are the best in the series so far. We’ll have to see if it holds the crown when the fourth installment opens this August.  P.S. if you want to see what happens to the kid in the pics above, check out our Killer Movie Deaths list.

THE OFFICE (RERUNS)
Network: NBC
Time: 8:30 – 9:30PM

Reasons to watch: NBC’s got a double-dose of The Office tonight with back-tobac episodes ‘Golden Ticket’ and ‘New Boss’. For me, ‘Golden Ticket’ is the funniest of the sixth season. Michael has a brilliant idea for a promotion that backfires in horrible and hilarious ways causing him to scurry to find a scapegoat. Not unlike that time that I messed myself and traded pants with a passed out dude. I party.
