The actors who make up the "True Blood" cast are all versatile in their craft, and educated. Some are award winners, while others have been nominated for multiple awards. A couple of the "True Blood" cast members were born abroad, and got their start in the country they hail from. All of the “True Blood” series regular cast members have become well known for portraying their specific character on the hit HBO series.

Anna Paquin.

She is a "True Blood" cast member who appears in every episode of the HBO series. On the show she portrays main character Sookie Stackhouse. Paquin is one of the "True Blood" cast members that has an Oscar. She won Best Supporting Actress in 1993 for her performance in "The Piano." Since then, she has been in the "X-Men" films, "A Walk on the Moon," and the 2011 horror "Scream 4." Paquin has also performed on stage in New York and London.

Stephen Moyer.

This "True Blood" cast member was nominated for a Satellite Award in 2010 for his portrayal of Bill Compton on the show. Prior to being on "True Blood" he created a theatre company called "The Reject Society." Born in Brentwood, Essex, Moyer made a name for himself on the British television shows "Men Only," "NY-LON," "Five's Menace," and "The Grand." In 2007 he played Sam on the popular television miniseries "The Started Wife." He is currently married to his "True Blood" cast mate Anna Paquin.

Alexander Skarsgård.

He is the "True Blood" cast member who plays the cold hearted vampire Eric Northman. Hailing from Sweden, Skarsgård enlisted in the military at the age of nineteen before moving to America to attend Marymount Manhattan College in New York. He has been in the movies "Zoolander," and "Straw Dogs." In 2008 he played Sgt. Brad 'Iceman' Colbert in the HBO miniseries "Generation Kill."

Ryan Kwanten.

From 1997 until 2002 this "True Blood" cast member was a part of the television show "Home and Away." During 85 episodes he portrayed Jay Robertson. In 2004 he became a series regular on "Summerland," but that show only lasted one season. He also had a lead role in the 2007 horror movie "Dead Silence." Currently, he portrays Jason Stackhouse on "True Blood."

Rutina Wesley.

This "True Blood" cast member has limited acting experience prior to landing a role on the hit HBO series as Tara Thornton. Wesley spent a summer at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and attended Julliard School. She met her "True Blood" cast mate Nelsan Ellis while at Julliard. She was a part of the 2006 Broadway production "The Vertical Hour," and the 2007 movie "How She Move."

Sam Trammell.

He portrays diner owner Sam Merlotte on the HBO series "True Blood." Trammell attended Brown University, and in 1996 had a feature role on the primetime television movie "Harvest of Fire." Since then, this "True Blood" cast member has earned a Tony Award nomination for his role in "Ah, Wilderness!" in 1998. He has a lot of acting credits for gust roles on television series such as, "Numb3rs," "Dexter," "Cold Case," and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

Chris Bauer.

This "True Blood" cast member has been on many different television series. From 1999 until 2004 Bauer played Fred Yokas on 53 episodes of "Third Watch." During the 2003 season of "The Wire" he portrayed lead character Frank Sobotka. In 2009 he had guest spots on the television shows, "Fringe," "The Good Wife," and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." Currently, he is a regular "True Blood" cast member as the Sherieff Andy Bellefleur.
