From 2004 to 2010, there was not a more intriguing show on television than “Lost” and while part of the excitement came from the mysteries, it was the “Lost” cast members that helped take the puzzling storyline and make it something people cared to follow. The various members of the cast have worked in a variety of different movie and television projects and all share a history or living life as one of the best casts on modern day television.
From the start of the series, the central character was Doctor Jack Shephard, a disgraced surgeon who was on the flight to return the body of his deceased dad. The “Lost” cast member who played the character is Matthew Fox, who got his start on television. Fox got his big break on the teen television series “Party of Five.” He has also appeared in the movie “Speed Racer,” although he spends much of the film under a mask as Racer X. Fox, despite being the star of the show, has seen his career stall since its cancellation.
Terry O’Quinn was, from the start, one of the most popular “Lost” cast members as part-time antagonist Locke. He began the series in a wheelchair until the island gave him his legs back and did everything he could to make sure the castaways didn’t get off the island, the first place he actually felt like he fit in. O’Quinn worked with J.J. Abrams, the show’s creator, on the spy series “Alias” and, like Fox, has not been seen much since the show went off the air.
Jorge Garcia is the loveable Hurley, a man who is universally loved by most people on the island despite being a beacon for bad luck. Garcia also had a memorable cameo on the television sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” as a guy who always had bad luck and numerous references to “Lost” was spread throughout. He is the main actor that Abrams handpicked to take with him to his next show, the upcoming “Alcatraz.”
“Lost” cast member Josh Holloway got his break in a couple of strange little appearances. In the Aerosmith music video for “Cryin,” he appears as the thief who gets beat up by Alicia Silverston’s character. In the debut episode for the television series “Angel,” he appears as an unnamed vampire at the start who is killed by the hero before the opening credits. He finally broke out as the surly and cocky conman Sawyer in “Lost” and seemed destined for stardom. He is set to appear in the next movie in the “Mission Impossible” series.
One of the most famous “Lost” cast members died after only a few seasons on the series. Dominic Monaghan starred as Irish rock star Charlie, who spent much of the show battling drug addictions before finally redeeming himself. Monaghan has a lot of geek cred as he has starred as a hobbit in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and as a mutant in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
