The hit FOX show was cast with a mixture on unknown actors, and ones that have been in the entertainment industry for a while. All of these "Glee" cast members bring memorable characters to life that everyone loves, or loves to hate.
Matthew Morrison.Glee club director and high school teacher Will Schuester is played by the Tony nominated actor Matthew Morrison. He has a lot of experience with musicals by starring in the Broadway productions of "Footloose," "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," "Hairspray," and "The Light in the Piazza." In 2006 he guest starred on seventeen episodes of the television soap opera "As the World Turns." Before becoming a "Glee" cast member he had small roles in the movies "Dan in Real Life," and "Music and Lyrics."
Jane Lynch. This "Glee" cast member won a Golden Globe and Emmy for her portrayal of cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester. Before she got the role of Sue, Lynch was on fifteen episodes of "The L Word" and twelve episodes of "Two and a Half Men." She was also in the popular movies "Julie & Julia," "Role Models," and "The Rocker."
Lea Michele. Prior to becoming a "Glee" cast member, her only television acting experience was a guest role on "Third Watch." She appeared on Broadway in the musicals "Les Misérables," "Ragtime," and "Fiddler on the Roof." In 2006, she started a two year stint on Broadway for the musical "Spring Awakening," which she was with while it was still off-Broadway. Born in 1986, Lea Michele currently plays the role of Rachel Berry on "Glee." For her role as Rachel, she received Golden Globe, and Emmy nominations.
Dianna Agron. She plays Quinn Fabray on the hit FOX show "Glee." She grew up in San Francisco, and as a child began performing in local theater productions. Once she finished high school, Agron began to pursue acting. Before becoming a "Glee" cast member she had guest roles on the television shows "Numb3rs," "Veronica Mars," and "Heroes." Since working on "Glee" she has appeared in the films, "The Romantics," and "Burlesque."
Chris Colfer. Born in 1990, this "Glee" cast member had no real acting experience prior to joining the show. After he auditioned and did not get the role of Artie, the "Glee" casting agents wrote the role of Kurt Hummel specifically for Colfer. In 2011 he won a Golden Globe award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
Cory Monteith. On the television show "Glee," Cory Monteith plays high school student Finn Hudson. He has a lot of television experience, and prior to "Glee" starred in seven episodes of "Kyle XY," and ten episodes of "Kaya." He also has experience on the big screen by having roles in, "Final Destination 3," and "White Noise 2: The Light."
Kevin McHale. Born in 1988 in Plano, Texas, this "Glee" cast member had little acting experience before joining the hit FOX show. He plays Artie Abrams, the wheelchair bound "Glee" cast member, but in real life, he has full function of his legs. Prior to "Glee" he appeared on episodes of the television shows, "True Blood," Zoey 101," "The Office," and "All That."
Jayma Mays. On the hit television show "Glee" she plays guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury. In 2006 she was featured in three episodes of "Heroes" as Charlie Andrews, and in 2009 she reprised the role for two more episodes. She also was featured in eight episodes of the television show "Ugly Betty." In 2009 this "Glee" cast member had a featured role in the hit movie "Paul Blart: Mall Cop."
