Buzzin'

Hunter S. Thompson said ”The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.” Unfortunately, it just doesn’t seem that interesting  these days. It just can be when it’s centered around people like Cisco Adler, one of the main character’s in MTV’s Buzzin’. He is a rich kid from Los Angeles who has tagged more hot women than he ever should have, a man who is famous because a picture of his distended nut sack was passed around online. His musical partner is the young irresponsible Shwaze, a rapper who is straight out of “the trailer parks of Malibu.”  Dude. A trailer park is not a trailer park if it’s in Malibu. That’s the rule. A trailer park is a trailer park if it is on the outskirts of Topeka and smells like meth and spousal abuse.

If we wrote normal reviews of stuff, I’d say that Buzzin’ follows rising recording artists Cisco and Shwaze as they navigate the ups and downs of the music business where the booze and women is as plentiful as the moments of high tension. But unfortunately its hard to ignore the utterly manufactured nature of the show’s storylines. Like most things today, this is not reality tv.  It’s just a sort of an ambiguous scripted show with shitty camera work where producers tell people how to respond to situations that they create. And like most music today, theirs is just as ambiguous and between categories

My suggestion? Throw away the plot. Screw tension and arcs and all that shit. Just spend 30 minutes showing two twentysomthings getting plastered, being total assholes, playing shows, and picking up super hot chicks.  I’d watch that.
