The latest trailer for The Hangover Part III lays out the film’s plot. After Alan goes off his meds, the guys take a road trip to deliver him to a rehab facility. However, they’re hijacked by gangsters on the hunt for Mr. Chow while en route. That leads to a global hunt and probably male nudity.

Thus I’m happy to present the first teaser trailer for this summer’s biggest comedy. Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis,Ed Helms, and some form of exotic animal return to have crazy adventures with Las Vegas gangsters one more time.

“The Hangover Part III is Alan’s story,” Phillips told Entertainment Weekly about Zach Galifianakis’s character. “He’s going through a crisis after the death of his father, [and] the Wolfpack is all he has.” Without saying too much, he also reveals the third film “brings the group together when something from the first movie comes back to haunt them.”

We’ll just have to wait patiently to see what kind of exotic animal this story will involve.

Bars are generally good spots for humor, but they’re made all the better when they include Zach Galifianakis as this particular bar does, or at least this particular set designed to look like a bar.

In this exchange, you’ll find out, among other things, what “dyslexia of the mouth” is. It involves spitting out a drink when you should be swallowing. This exchange is presumably a promotional device for Zach’s new film, The Campaign, but you’d never really know it judging by how damn funny it is.

Comedians are funny when they’re on stage, but as The Comedians of Comedy demonstrated, they’re often at their best when they’re just shooting the shit with other comedians. Like they do right here.

Of course, the characters they’re playing will have names like Cal Brady and Marty Huggins, respectively, and they’ll be duking it out for a congressional seat in North Carolina.

The movie doesn’t look particularly “good,” but after some more melancholy fare like Everything Must Go, it’s nice to see Ferrell just get dumb. Points to the trailer guys for using The Black Keys, and points against them for using the hackneyed “Takin’ Care of Business,” leading me to believe that Homer Simpson may have had a hand in creating this trailer.

The first episode, with Modern Family’s Ty Burrell, goes live next Monday, May 7th, with a new episode premiering every subsequent Monday.

Dog Fight follows two rival politicians (Galifia…etc and Ferrell) as they duke it out in a North Carolina election. Apparently, they needed one more comedian with an oddly-shaped body. Mission accomplished.

It’s unknown what Ayrkoyd’s role will be, but you can bet your bottom dollar that he’ll talk slightly faster than a normal person in a strange voice.

“I hope we’ll start shooting next September. I know (director) Todd Phillips is working on the script. We stuck to the formula in the second one but the third would need to close the trilogy. I think it’ll take place in L.A. and not adhere to the structure.”

I don’t know. Can we believe him that we’ll be entertained in a fresh and original way? The man is an actor after all. He’s paid to make believe. This could just be one huge misdirect tailored to trick us into buying tickets for another chapter. Then again… those eyes. They’re so deep. I feel like I can see into his soul. It’s warm and honest there. (National Ledger)

Dan Vasser

Being a father has enough trials without being tossed back in time at random moments. Dan doesn’t come with super powers or a life he can ignore in order to serve whatever higher authority in Journeyman has decided to play twister with his timeline. With a brain and a dedication towards helping the people he encounters on his journeys, Vasser is a cool time traveler that is caught up in the chaos of something he can’t control but still works towards juggling saving people in the past and saving his relationships in the present. Substance beats style and gets a nice twist with his inability to control his unique “events”.

The Ninth Doctor

Doctor Who gets to show off the warrior facet of the time lord with this incarnation played by Christopher Eccleston. There are cool time travelers and then there’s The Doctor, an immortal regenerating last of his kind explorer who tends to show up where and when needed. Eccleston gets to give old and new fans of the series a quietly raging doctor, one who is ready to go to war over his grudge and that’s an aspect up until now The Doctor never much evidenced. A harder, most driven character in this generation, the ninth Doctor shows off the terrible power and fury that up until now has been hidden behind a thick veneer of Zen-like calm and that is fascinating.

Danny Quinn

A scrapper and officer of the law, Danny Quinn seethes with the regret and loss of his brother and doesn’t enter into the idea of time travel without serious skepticism. Played by Jason Flemyng, Quinn feels like the eye of the storm, calm for now but venture too far out and destruction will reign. One of the cooler time travelers out there, this Primeval star won’t fall in love with time travel anytime soon but he won’t run with his tail tucked between his legs either.

Tru Davies

Not many time travelers get as cool a partner as Zach Galifianakis. Davis, played by Zach, is Tru’s supervisor, confidant and enabler as he encourages Tru whenever she hits rough spots in her quest to save the dead who ask for her help. Although only getting to go back a day in Tru Calling, Tru gets enough terror and mystery to fill her plate as she works to guide the living away from the path that leads to their death. Funny, sincere and well ensconced in her small tribe of friends, Davies gets to be one of the cooler time travelers out there as she tries to better the lives of others while being in the grips of a much larger and unseen conspiracy.

The Eleventh Doctor

Quirky dress sense meets quirky personality and the eleventh Doctor comes ready to play. With an aura of intuitiveness and a drive to help others, this version of Doctor Who as portrayed by Matt Smith blends the warrior caste with the healer cast and throws in a sprinkle of occasional aloofness that makes him one of the coolest time travelers ever. Bringing bow ties back into popular dress wear might be beyond this Doctor but conveying other worldliness well taking the best bits of humanity is not. Smith keeps his companions and his encounters simultaneously at a distance and within his embrace with a powerful sincerity that makes it look easy.

Todd Phillips spoke during press for the sequel, saying that he would like the third installment to take a dark turn away from the formula of the first two entries, and Zach G.’s recent interview with Rolling Stone indicates that’s the case. Probably.

The hairy cherub said that he heard that the next Hangover would entail the balance of the wolfpack busting Zach’s character Alan out of a mental institution. I’m getting flashes of Bottle Rocket, which might indicate some derivation, but after the by-the-numbers second installment, a little ambition from the producers might not be a bad thing.

However, considering The Hangover: Part II recently became the highest-grossing comedy ever (even with an R rating), expect some tug-o’-war between the producers’ ambition and a studio that wants to stick with something proven to work.

If the third one does take place in a mental hospital, the role of the baby/monkey could very easily just morph into a midget with severe depression.

First of all, the film does a great job of handling how the exact same thing happens again. The characters acknowledge it just enough without being all, “Remember the last time we passed out and had to piece back the comic misadventures of the night before?” The only excuse they need is “it’s still funny,” so they don’t dwell on the explanation.

It is nice to see more of the wolf pack’s everyday interaction, including how they’ve coped with the history of Vegas. Phil’s (Bradley Cooper) basically the same but Doug (Justin Bartha) is happily married and Stu (Ed Helms) is now completely overprotective. Alan (Zach Galifianakis) is a definitive personality with his pronunciation of Thailand and random Doogie Howser jokes, and, as destructive as he is, he’s also sweet and protective.

They really build another mystery, even though we’ve already seen Stu’s face tattoo and Alan’s shaved head on the poster. The catch phrases on the poster aren’t spoilers either. “I have a demon in me” comes up in a totally different context than I imagined it would. The script by Scot Armstrong, Craig Mazin and Todd Phillips seamlessly applies the Hangover structure to a new setting. The beauty of it is it could happen anywhere, or with anyone (i.e. franchise.)

This hangover is even more desperate. Stealing Tyson’s tiger is irresponsible, but it’s easy enough to stay out of a wildcat’s path. Thailand is epically seedy and their exploits there have permanent ramifications. They have not given away the most shocking moments in the trailer. You’ve seen one-off gags like hitting the pig with the car, but the actual immoral ones are a surprise. The tattoo artist cameo definitely didn’t need to be a celebrity stunt casting. It works great with just a tough character actor.

If you want a completely different structure then you’ll be disappointed, but then also it wouldn’t be The Hangover, it would just be some other movie. So it’s a tattoo instead of a tooth and a monkey instead of a baby. Stu’s new song isn’t quite as funny as “Halle Berry in her Catwoman suit” and the photo montage at the end isn’t as shocking, but I’m glad they tried them again. The beauty of sequels is they can try different takes on familiar favorites, and build on what they’ve done before. It becomes tradition and there are plenty of new bits destined to be classics. Alan’s meditation flashback is so right for depicting how Alan sees the world.

Look, it’s not entirely unpredictable but it’s funny. The explanation for their second blackout is a bit disappointing but so far, The Hangover Part II is the only summer movie that lives up to the hype. I want to see another one, but the next blackout shouldn’t happen at a wedding. Maybe Doug’s son’s bar mitzvah, and not just finding another missing person. They should cause an international incident, maybe murder someone. It can turn out in the end that he was a terrorist and they actually saved the day, but take it to the next level. Keep doing it though.

Rivals, starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as two guys who I’m sure will not being competing against one another, opens Aug. 10, 2012. It’s the story of two rival political candidates, directed by Jay Roach. I would have hoped they’d be running together on the Frat Party ticket. Ah well.

However, before all that, you and Dwayne Johnson are going on a journey together. Specifically, a Journey 2: The Mysterious Island 3D journey. Michael Caine, Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens will be along for your crazy ride come Jan. 27, 2012. It’s sure to be a journey… into pure cinematic genius. (Deadline)

The Wolf Pack is back, doing things that are similar to their first outing, but also enough different stuff to warrant your $38.

Galifianakis left the project over concerns that Reynolds couldn’t make the schedule due to a possible Green Lantern 2 conflict. Reynolds has apparently ironed out the wrinkles and is on board now, however.

R.I.P.D. is a comic book adaptation that focuses on a police force comprised solely of undead officers, serving out heaping portions of justice, zombie-style. Despite the macabre subject matter, it’s a comedy, albeit a darker one, possibly in the vein of Army of Darkness. If Bridges jumps aboard, it could mark a commercial trend for the actor, who is currently filming The Seventh Son. It’s never too late to become a box office draw. Just ask the ghost of George Burns. There isn’t a ton of new footage, but spot #2 is pretty damn funny. Creepy Zach Galifianakis is always good for a laugh – Tim & Eric fans know what I’m talking about. (Incidentally, does anyone know where my chippy has gone to?) Ed Helms does a lot of freaking out, Ken Jeong does a lot of obnoxious laughing, and Bradley Cooper keeps the pack together. “I can’t believe this is happening again.” Well, Ed Helms, you spent several months filming the sequel, so I kind of find that hard to believe.

The pack blacks out and wakes up in theaters with a foggy memory again on May 26th.

My favorite is the one with Ed Helms, who’s making a tough-to-pin-down facial expression, somewhere between intense fear and resignation. Which one is your favorite? The monkey, probably. I bet it’s the monkey. (Empire)

Neeson’s cameo as a tattoo artist in Bangkok was cut from The Hangover Part II. Director Todd Phillips needed to re-shoot the scene for continuity reasons three weeks ago, but Neeson was in London shooting Clash of the Titans 2: Titan Up. At the last minute, Phillips got Nick Cassavetes to sub-in.

“He came in and crushed it and that is the scene that you will ultimately see in the film,” said Phillips in a recent interview. “[I'm excited for everyone] to see the film. It turned out great.”

The small part has been recast three times. It was going to be played by Mel Gibson, until the cast was like, “he’s… kind of a horrible racist?” So then they cast Neeson, but the above hullabaloo led to Cassavetes nabbing the role. A lot of fuss over a small cameo – hopefully they had time to focus on, y’know, the rest of the movie.

Apparently not. It looks to be a matter of scheduling. The two major hold-ups are Galifianakis’ commitments to “Bored To Death” and the fact that Ryan Reynolds could be pulled at any moment to film a Green Lantern sequel. He could be in the shower, he could be working out, or visiting family in Canada. This poor guy just never knows when he’ll be forced to play the Green Lantern again.

Though if the trailer is any indication, it’s highly unlikely he’ll be called upon for a Green Lantern sequel. We’ll probably see a Green Hornet sequel before we see another Green Lantern. (Deadline)

Yesterday, the trailer for The Hangover Part II hit the interwebs, and at first glance, the movie looks a lot like the original. Don’t get me wrong, we’re not saying that’s a bad thing. Even if Todd Philips made a scene-for-scene remake, I’d still pay money to see it. But even so, I couldn’t help but notice the glaring similarities. Of course, when you bring back the entire cast of a film, there’s bound to be some overlap, but this goes well beyond that. For example…

In both films, the men must search for clues in their pockets in order to piece together the previous evening. And in both films, wackiness ensues.

Mike Tyson was the big surprise cameo in the first film. And while Phillips has denied that Bill Clinton will be appearing in part two, I still think there’s a 50/50 chance.

The new trailer for The Hangover II is here, brah! Check out what craaaaaazy sheeeeet the Wolfpack gets into this fuzzy-headed time around. Bangkok replaces Las Vegas, a monkey replaces the tiger, and an Asian kid replaces Justin Bartha. It feels like this movie might suffer from sequelitis. More of the same but in different ways. At least a valuable lesson is learned from this trailer: When a monkey nibbles on a weenis, it’s funny in any language. From your mouth to God’s ears, Zach.

This isn’t the first time Zach Galifianakis and Brody Stevens have worked together – their relationship stretches back to the aforementioned VH1 show “Late World with Zach,” and Stevens has played small roles in The Hangover and Due Date.

Anyway, Galifianakis appears in the show as well, and will probably serve as a guest star if it gets picked up as a series. I hope it does, because this sounds really good. (via Deadline)

A new still has been released for The Hangover 2 and loses points right off the bat for not featuring that monkey. Though the guys look pretty stressed out. Maybe they lost the monkey? I know I’d be pretty bummed if I lost a monkey that toured with the Stones. That thing is an automatic chick magnet.

One thing we know they won’t be losing this time around is Doug. Justin Bartha tells Empire in the latest print edition, “Doug isn’t lost in this one. There are similar circumstances, but he’s a little bit more involved.”

We’ll have to wait for a full-length trailer to find out exactly what is going on in this film, what role the monkey plays, and where Zach Galifianakis puts his penis this time around. (via The Playlist)

Something crazy is happening. Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim are really shooting a movie, and it will really have a cast that includes Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Jeff Goldblum, Will Forte, Robert Loggia and Zach Galifianakis. They’ve all signed on. Oh, but that Harrison Ford rumor was just that, so n Indiana Jones / Spagett cross-over.

When I heard the news that Tim And Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie was happening, I half-assumed it was a joke, like their infamous promotional campaign for Shrek The Third. However, it looks like the stars of Adult Swim‘s “Tim & Eric Awesome Show” are planning on taking over the big screen… but what will they do to it, exactly?

The sketch show was anti-comedy at its most purposefully, elegantly grating, and also was dolled out in 11 minute episodes. As much as I loved the title and posters for Aqua Teen Hunger Force Comma Movie Film For Theaters, I fell asleep half-way through. Of course, I wasn’t stoned, which I was later told was the problem.

Still, the thought of Beaver Boys and James Quall on the big screen is as exciting as finding my Chippy. Below is the plot, or the thing that will semi-resemble plot. (TheWrap)

The movie is about the comedians’ characters, Tim and Eric, who, Wareheim said, “literally get a billion dollars to make a movie, and we make it, and things go awry, and Tim and I just decide to get out of Hollywood and become businessmen in an abandoned mall.

Heidecker interrupted: “Semi-abandoned mall,” he said. “About 10 percent occupancy.”

There’s a rumor out there that the duo are going to begin work on Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie. Additionally, it’s rumored they will bring John C. Reilly (who just turned in a hilarious performance in Cedar Rapids), Zach Galifianakis, Bob Odenkirk, Harrison Ford, and Will Forte along for the ride. A Will Ferrell appearance shouldn’t be ruled out either as he and Adam McKay will serve as producers on the proposed film.

Not sure if the film would follow a straight narrative form or be broken up into small, loud bits but I’m up for seeing either. And I’ll be sure to wear my Poop Tube so I don’t miss a frame. (via /Film)
