Forced by his supplier to smuggle “a smidge of marijuana” across the border, Jason Sudeikis‘s low-level pot dealer devises the perfect plan — hire a fake family and mask the entire operation as a nice family vacation. Of course, things go off the rails as they’re forced to strip by druglords, pursued Johnny Law, encounter swingers, and suffer from a pretty heinous groin injury. Ah, reminds me of my own family’s summers at the lake.

Marijuana comedy is the new vampires, so move over, zombies. Yet another weed flick is making its way to theaters, this one titled We’re the Millers, focusing on that tried-and-true formula of the criminal making good, walking away forever after one big score.

Dodgeball director Rawson Thurber is is attached to direct the project, which contemplates a 30 year-old weed dealer walking away from the game forever after smuggling 1,400 pounds of dope up from Mexico through a ruse involving a fake family. Doesn’t he know you can just buy it at stores now?

Though no actors have been announced, both Will Arnett and Steve Buscemi have been attached earlier to the project, but their involvement at this stage is doubtful.

Since 2004′s Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Thurber’s biggest project has been the little recognized The Mysteries of Pittsburgh. Huh. I have no impression of this guy one way or the other, so I will reserve judgment about this project until we get some casting news.

I hear Danny McBride‘s a popular choice for these types of films. (THR)
