Michelle Pfeiffer, who’ll always be remem-purrrrrrred for her role as Lamia in 2007′s Stardust, was cast in the film Welcome To People. She’ll join Chris Pine, Olivia Wilde and Elizabeth Banks in a movie about a man (Pine) whose father dies. When he returns home, he uncovers a family secret. And the secret is… wait, I don’t know. The film starts shooting next week, so we’ve got a ways to wait.

Meanwhile, I’ve never seen a full episode of “Gossip Girl,” but there’s a British dude on it named Ed Westwick. So, yeah, that guy’s got a major supporting role in a cool sounding bio pic called J. Edgar, about the life of power-grabbing, cross-dressing FBI director J. Edgar Hoover. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Hoover, and Westwick plays the straight-laced FBI agent who ends up writing his biography. DiCaprio gave an awesome performance in Catch Me If You Can, so you don’t need to tap our phones to know we’re intrigued by this project. (Deadline)

Wilde was the best part of Tron Legacy, besides the light cycles, and has upcoming appearances in Cowboys & Aliens, Butter, Now, and The Change-Up. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching her on “House” over the past few years and totally support her being in anything and everything. Elizabeth Banks can come too. (THR)

Elizabeth Banks has beat out acting powerhouses Amy Adams and Hilary Swank for the female lead role in Welcome to People, the directorial debut of Star Trek co-writer Alex Kurtzman. In the film, “Chris Pine stars a young businessman who flies home for his father’s funeral and finds out that, in his will, it’s stipulated he deliver $150,000 to an alcoholic older sister he didn’t know he had and her 12-year-old son. He does so without revealing who he is.” The weird title isn’t a greeting for mentally handicapped extraterrestrials, but refers to an anger management program the son is enrolled in. Banks has come a long way since sloppily kissin Paul Rudd in Wet Hot American Summer. She could have her eyes set on a certain little gold, bald man, and I don’t mean David Geffen. (/Film)

Noted screenwriter and producer Alex Kurtzman is set to make his directorial debut with Welcome to People. The film is being produced by a man who, despite his influence in the industry, is not well known outside of Hollywood: director Steven Spielberg. Kurtzman first worked for Spielberg on his production of Transformers. While he has gone on to produce various TV shows, including "Fringe" and CBS’s upcoming remake of "Hawaii Five-0," the director’s chair has alluded him until now.

Welcome to People tells the story of a man whose estranged father dies, leaving instructions for his son to deliver $150,000 to a sister he never knew existed. The man wants to keep the money for himself, but can’t help but investigate his long-lost sibling.

When my dad passed away, he left me $150 and stipulated that I should deliver it personally to my estranged second cousin while she was working at The Box Office, a gentlemen’s club in the next town over.
