Director Wayne Kramer should be more famous – his first two movies, The Cooler and Running Scared are both excellent. And now, after being unceremoniously dumped from Sylvester Stallone‘s Headshot, he has his next project in the works. It’s called Ecstasia, and like approximately 60% of new movies, it’s set in the future. More specifically, it’s about a future in which love no longer exists, except when it’s artificially induced in an expensive procedure known as “commitment.” Without this procedure, relationships of the future can’t last. Here’s more, if you can commit:

“Kramer’s film revolves around a man and woman who turn to desperate measures when they can no longer afford the costs of “commitment.”

Pretty interesting, right? No word yet on who will star, but I’ll be there regardless of who’s in it. (Deadline)

Stallone Arm Wrestles Director Wayne Kramer Out Of ‘Headshots’

Sylvester Stallone needs a new director for his upcoming dramatic vehicle Headshots. Apparently, Stallone “clashed creatively” with would-be director Wayne Kramer (Running Scared), which I’m imagining means there was a story meeting where punches were thrown, and storyboards got thrown into a canyon during a car chase… and exploded somehow.

Headshots is about a young New York City cop who teams with a New Orleans hitman (Stallone). I imagine those two characters will have extremely different outlooks on life, so their team-up can only lead to one thing: a quick and efficient investigation. The script was written by Alessandro Camon (The Messenger). (Deadline)

Stallone Branching Out Into Action

With The Expendables, Sylvester Stallone paid homage to the gritty, bizarrely-cast, shoot ‘em up action flicks of the 1980′s. It looks like his next will pay homage to formulaic, generic cop action dramas.

Stallone has signed on for Headshot (with a Montegrappa pen, of course), in which he “teams with a young NYPD detective in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the dingy back alleys of New Orleans all the way to the power corridors of Washington, D.C. The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge.”

If movies have taught me anything, it’s that young NYPD detectives have total jurisdiction over the dingy back alleys of New Orleans and the power corridors of Washington, D.C. I have a feeling that someone’s going to be handing over their badge at some point in this film. Probably a half an hour before the credits roll. (THR)
