Sylvester Stallone is about to become a very proud papa. Sarah Shahi is joining one of his upcoming action flicks. Based on the graphic novel A Bullet To The Head and directed by Walter Hill, the story stars Stallone as an older New Orleans hitman who teams up with a young NYC cop to avenge the murders of both of their partners.

Shahi had better be careful. If Stallone movies have taught me anything, it’s that the bad guys always come after what he loves the most. Which means it’s likely we’ll see Shahi and Stallone outrun an explosion. Preferably after she’s gotten out of the shower. And in slow-motion. Walter Hill, we are counting on you. (Variety)

That ‘Bullet To The Head’ Movie Just Got A Lot Kangier

Sung Kang, who you might know as one of the stars of Fast Five, is blowing up right now, and in a way that few if any Asian stars have been able to do here in the States. He’s apparently replacing Tom Jane in the untitled Sylvester Stallone thriller that used to be called Headshot (based on the comic Bullet to the Head), where he will be an even younger counterpart to the aged Stallone (I’m sure he’ll be referred to as “the aged Stallone” in all the press materials).

This is apparently happening due to a mandate from producer Joel Silver casting “mixed race” leads in his pictures. It will be cool to see a charismatic star like Kang in an action movie where he won’t be doing any martial arts. Or they’ll just add a bunch of martial arts to the movie. Either way, progress! Yeah, Sylvester Stallone is reuniting with the Expendables crew for a part 2, but Jason Statham and Jet Li aren’t the only guys Rocky will be re-teaming with in the near future. He’s now set to partner-up with his Demolition Man producer Joel Silver. Though Silver will probably not be joining in for any on-screen kill fests.

Stallone Stabs At Banter For A Change In New 'Expendables' Trailer

Silver is producing a new Stallone hitman action movie under his Dark Castle Entertainment banner. Stallone plays an older New Orleans hitman who teams up with a young NYC cop to get some vengeance. Badda-bing badda-whoa, those two types are way different. However, vengeance supersedes all cultural differences and unites us all… as people.

The story is based on the graphic novel Bullet to the Head, written by Matz and illustrated by Colin Wilson. Walter Hill is attached to direct.

He’s Tom Jane, He’s Starring Opposite Sylvester Stallone

Actor Thomas Jane is famous for many things: Wanting his kids back, being a homeless dad, and I believe he appeared on “Arrested Development.” Now, he can add “Sylvester Stallone‘s co-star in Headshot” to his list of accomplishments. The movie, which, excitingly enough, will be directed by action auteur Walter Hill, who’s also rewriting the script. Here’s what Jane had to say about it:

“He’s a hitman, I’m a cop, and we’re just opposite in every f*cking way, and we need each other to get this job done. And of course I’m like, ‘As soon as this job’s over, I’m going to take you to jail, you know, you’re a killer.”

Geez, calm down, Tom Jane. Anyway, this sounds pretty cool, especially with Walter Hill behind the camera. It might turn out to be pretty good, even if Jane is just doing it for his kids. (Arrow in the Head)

It’s Still The 80s: Walter Hill To Direct Stallone In ‘Headshots’

Walter Hill is best known as the director of The Warriors and 48 Hrs. Sylvester Stallone is best known as Rocky and Rambo. Though they continue to be successful today, Hill and Stallone were successful to the max in the go-go 80s, which means there’s only one word to describe the news that Walter Hill will direct Stallone in the action movie Headshots: “tubular.” Though “tubulariffic” would also have been acceptable.

In Headshots, a young NYC cop teams up with an older New Orleans hitman, who’ll be played by Sly. Cause when I think “Stallone,” I think, “New Orleans.” He’s got “gumbo” written all over his face. Here’s what Stallone said in an email to Ain’t It Cool News:

It’s official. We’ve got Walter Hill on board so would love for you to let the world know. We’ve been on the same track since The Driver, then 48 Hrs didn’t happen so here we are almost 35 years later, I’m finally driving with Walter Hill.

Stallone was up for 48 Hrs? That news is most excellent. (AICN)

Stallone Eyes Walter Hill As His Rebound Director For ‘Headshot’

Sylvester Stallone is all business. Less that 24 hours after axing Wayne Kramer from Headshot, he has already held a meeting with Walter Hill, who is an action director from a bygone, but fondly-remembered era. His work includes 48 Hours and the cult classic The Warriors. The premise of Headshot sounds pretty rote (A young NYC cop teams up with an older New Orleans hitman (Sly)), so any departure from the norm sounds appealing for this project.

In light of this rapid-fire meeting, it would seem that Sly & Co. are serious about sticking to their production schedule, which would have shooting begin in the next two months.

Let’s hope that the producers of Headshot take a few lessons from last year’s failed Cop Out, and realize that it takes more than just an odd couple to entertain us today. That shit may have gone over in the 80′s, but we’re a more sophisticated audience today.
