Tom Cruise, while doing publicity for Rock of Ages, was asked about a Top Gun sequel and replied, “It would be fun getting into those jets. I want to fly those jets!” in a way that you think you’re imagining Tom Cruise saying it, but really you’re imagining Ben Stiller doing an impression of Tom Cruise saying it.

Val Kilmer, in a different, non-Rock of Ages interview, placed a big ole’ elephant in the room, then told everyone to ignore it as he claimed,”Sure, it would be fun. I’d have to get a haircut, but anything for the role!”

In that scenario, I imagine the interviewer beginning to choke, even though they weren’t eating anything at the time. In converse fashion, Kilmer would produce a giant bucket of sauce-laden meatballs which he would casually eat, and then the interview would end.

Wyatt Earp

Wyatt Earp is probably the cowboy that’s had the most movies about him. His famous “gunfight at the OK Corral” has been adapted by everyone from John Sturges to John Ford, and has been played by everyone from Kurt Russell to Randolph Scott – he’s even set to be portrayed by Harrison Ford AND Val Kilmer in two separate upcoming projects.

Jesse James

One of American history‘s most notorious outlaws, Jesse James has also been the subject of several films. He was even played by his own son, Jesse James, Jr., in two silent films in the 1920s. Reed Hadley played him in Samuel Fuller’s I Shot Jesse James, and he was most recently played by none other than Brad Pitt in the critically acclaimed (and fantastic) The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

We here at Screen Junkies don’t watch the show because we were naturally blessed with two hype feet and fly off into a rage whenever we hear the voice of Tom Bergeron. Therefore, we don’t really have an opinion on this matter beyond, “What’s the big deal?”

He was a she and now he’s wearing a stylish vest and squaring off against Nancy Grace. There’s no harm in that. Besides, there are several beloved celebrities who resemble Chaz Bono. For instance….

Val Kilmer

He’ll be starring in movies alongside 50 Cent in no time.

John Goodman

Mostly it’s the shirt. Chaz should hold on to that in case he wants to be Dan Tanner for Halloween.

Kevin Smith

There’s no way they’d be able to sit next to one another on the same flight.

After watching this trailer for Twixt, I’m just not sure what Coppola’s intent is. Is he trying to strip Troll 2 of its best worst movie title? Not cool, man. Those Best Worst Movie guys already printed up all those posters! Anyway, check it out. It’s pretty weird. Val Kilmer plays a crappy horror writer investigating mysterious deaths in a small town, but the whole thing reads like it was produced by a teenager going through their Stephen King phase.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a serious craving for a Twix.

Going on that description, it’s pretty clear that this film won’t be a remake (or re-imagining, or gritty reboot) of Jean-Luc Goddard’s vaunted work of the same name. Which is good, because Gina Gershon probably shouldn’t be allowed too close to anything considered a “classic.”

Baget also co-wrote the script with Stefania Moscato. And no, Kilmer wasn’t required to gain weight for the role. That’s just the way he looks now. Oh how the mighty have fallen, Iceman.

Sounds a little run of the mill but the idea of Val Kilmer and Ving Rhames playing time-traveling ghostbusters has promise. Even only they’d pitched it a little bit differently. (Variety)

”[F]inds an elderly Earp sitting down with a reporter to reflect on the ride that made him a legend, when the young marshal rounded up a posse to track down the outlaw who mistakenly murdered the woman he loved.”

The weird part about this is that he’s supposed to play Wyatt Earp, but it seems to me he’s kind of in a no-man’s land as far as age is concerned – too young to play an elderly Wyatt Earp, and too old to be a young one. It will be interesting to see how this is handled in the movie. (via /Film)

The indie drama / bio pic Deep In The Heart tells the story of real-life, really-rich Texas businessman Richard Wallrath (Gries), who struggles with alcoholism and eventually becomes a philanthropist. A really big philanthropist too, if you get what I’m saying. Kilmer plays “The Bearded Man” — and how you can write a serious movie script and keep a straight face when you keep typing “The Bearded Man” over and over again is beyond me — a “Christ-like figure” who gets Wallrath off the sauce.

The film will be directed by Christopher Cain (Young Guns, but more importantly, The Amazing Panda Adventure) and will feature a cameo by Texas Governor Rick Perry. In Perry’s scene, he plays himself in a re-enactment of an awards ceremony he hosted in real life. Hopefully, the Academy will start giving awards for re-enactments of real life award scenes in cinema. (Hollywood Reporter)

Today we have a first look at MacGruber, courtesy of this red-band trailer. Will Forte displays a swagger that is as equal parts Richard Dean Anderson as it is David Hasselhoff. Looks like a fun movie. It’s filled with danger, intrigue, explosions, and Upper-Deckers. Just like one of Michael Bay’s house parties.

On a sidenote, did Val Kilmer hire Steven Seagal‘s stylist and Kirstie Alley’s trainer? Rumor is that they needed the jaws of life to get him out of his trailer every morning.
