The Savages is about two California potheads (Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch), whose communal girl-pool Ophelia (Lively) gets kidnapped by a badass Mexican drug cartel, forcing the two top dealers to work for them. And that’s why you shouldn’t do drugs, you guys. Cause bad guys played by Salma Hayek and Benicio Del Toro will come after you and the hot girl you share with your pal. You’ve been warned.

The Savages begins production this July. (Deadline)

“I think he has a script ready to start of a new film, A Southern, I think it’s really exciting. It’s another new story and a fresh piece of material that he is channeling at the moment. So I think Kill Bill lives down the road.”

Earlier, Tarantino confirmed that he had completed a draft of his slavery-centric spaghetti western. Whereas his previous screenplays has taken a long time to complete, this one “just flowed out of him.” Despite best efforts by the “exotic bird menagerie” to stifle his creativity with their “obnoxious pteradactyl-like screams.” (via Hollywood Outbreak and The Playlist)

In the film, known cat-milker Quaid (see photo) and Butler will play rival soccer coaches in the suburbs. There’s no word whether they will compete off the field for the affections of Uma Thurman or Jessica Biel, but it’s reported that Thurman’s character gets tingly in the pants for Gerard Butler.

Muccino is known for having directed Seven Pounds and The Pursuit Of Happyness. And while his spelling sucks, he does have at least one okay film under his belt. And Dennis Quaid likes those odds! (Blackfilm)

The film stars Gerard Butler as a pee-wee soccer coach lothario, acting as the coach to finally spend quality time with his son, but really to spend quality time with hot soccer moms. Of course, I don’t know that I’d want to date a woman who’s screaming, “put my son on the field you f*cking piece of shit! He’s way better than that waste of space Bergman. He’s picking his nose on the field, for god sake. Are you blind?” But I digress.

Thurman will play the sexy Hollywood version of a soccer mom (I guess we have Sarah Palin, but blood libels are also a turn-off), while Biel stars as Butler’s ex-wife. Playing The Field is helmed by Italian director Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happyness) and written by Robbie Fox (So I Married an Axe Murderer). The whistle will blow on filming very soon. I just don’t buy Angarano and Thurman as a former couple. He’s so young and tiny that he seems more like something Uma wouldn’t want to put in her pocket. Not her, umm, you know.

The 1980′s were clearly the heyday of mind-body transfer movies. Fred Savage and Judge Reinhold switched it up in Vice Versa, Kirk Cameron and Dudley Moore did it with Like Father, Like Son, then there was 18 Again! starring George Burns and some other dude. I never saw that one. The 90′s offered a death rattle in the way of a Freaky Friday remake, but it seemed clear that the concept was destined to die off. But Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds said “not on our watch,” and came to our rescue with The Change-Up (via Playlist), in which an uptight guy and his slacker friend switch bodies. Shocked? Then we’ve got Dream House starring Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig, in which a family moves into a new home, only to find that the previous inhabitants were murdered, possibly at the hands of the husband/father. They discover that they are doomed to repeat the fate of the family before them, which makes Mr. Craig register an expression that can best be described as “concern.” (Playlist)

Finally, we’ve got Ceremony which follows a young man (Michael Angarano) who crashes the wedding of a character played by Uma Thurman. This act makes the boy very relatable, as most anyone could develop an infatuation with the Thurmanator. In an interesting wrinkle that could only occur during our technological renaissance, Ceremony is hitting VOD on March 4th and theaters April 8th. (Playlist)

Uma Thurman told a story of an on-set spat during the filming of Kill Bill. Her phone went off during shooting and Tarantino shouted, “You let your phone go off one more time and I’ll make sure you regret the day you ever started acting!” She screamed back, “That happened a long time ago, motherf*cker!” So clearly a lot of “motherf*ckers” were thrown around. Uma than proceeded to remove her shoes, fill them with wine, and her and Quentin drank a toast.

Jeffrey Ross, who always kills at roasts, again offered up some of the best digs. To wrap up his time at the dais, he ended with these kind words: ”Thank you for making all us movie geeks seem a little cooler,” he told Tarantino before ending with another joke. “You changed the face of cinema. I just wish cinema would return the favor.” Nailed it!

Rob Schneider also took to the podium to explain why John Travolta, who sent a congratulatory note to Tarantino, was absent from the event. “There was a “Fags in Denial Who Believe in Aliens” convention,” Schneider suggested. Damn, Schneider. DAMN. (FilmDrunk, THR)
