Spread the love!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is enjoying rave reviews for his directorial debut, Don Jon’s Addiction. But it seems that he doesn’t want to spread that joy into the universe. What I mean is, JGL also stars in DJA as a porn-addicted man who starts a relationship with two different women as a means to distant himself from those videos where it looks like the daddy is hurting the mommy. The film also stars Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, and Tupac-homey, Tony Danza.

While speaking to press at the Berlin International Film Fest, Gordon-Levitt revealed he’ll trim down the pornography viewed in the film to secure an R-rating. “I think it is important that those images are in there but what precisely you see isn’t that important. What’s important is the rhythm of the film, the repetition of what the Don Jon character does, over and over.” Before adding, “Porn can get pretty gross.”

Trust him. He grew up in a culture of child actors. He knows the depths that porn can go to. (THR)

Steve Guttenberg got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. While the timing might seem a little odd (though he was somewhat recently on Dancing with the Stars), he was a staple of movie theaters throughout the 1980’s with films in the Police Academy series, Cocoon, and Three Men and a Baby, later to become a Little Lady. His ubiquity during this time puts this award in the “better late than never” category for me.

Many will be shocked to learn that he is the 2,455th person to get their star on the walk of fame. Though many are industry insiders and not bona fide stars, there are some actors that made the cut who are just baffling. In fact, let’s kick off this list of undeserving stars with a guy who really isn’t a star at all.

On Who’s The Boss, Tony plays a retired baseball player who becomes a dude-maid. In Taxi, he’s forcibly retired from boxing after too many K.O.’s. Comedian Rob Riggle (The Other Guys, Human Giant) will be Danza’d soon enough.

Riggle will star in the CBS sitcom Home Game, a multicamera comedy about a retired football player, based on the life of former NFL guard Mark Schlereth. The ex-Bronco’s player is a producer on the show, along with Mark Wahlberg, so I’m sure Schlereth will be constantly on set, shouting at the actors, “stop, stop… it didn’t happen like that.”

Riggle was once a Marine, and could probably kill you very quickly if necessary. So the show, which is about a guy who has to leave his family for several years, almost certainly hits home for Riggle… Home Game, that is. Pretty clever, me. (Deadline)

Coolio has a cookbook. Apparently it’s been out since November of 2009. Why the hell didn’t anybody tell me? It definitely would have been on my <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/genres-movies/comedies/10-funny-christmas-movies/" target"_blank">Christmas list for the past two years.

Now, the question of why Coolio has a cookbook (or an awesome Internet cooking show, for that matter), is a whole different story. While I don’t have a definitive answer, I think a coworker of mine who once worked with the rapper put it best when he said “Coolio needs food money.”

Whatever his motives for pimping “Ghettalian Garlic Bread,” he’s far from alone. A ridiculous amount of celebrities have tried their hand at writing a cookbook. While it must be insulting for an actual cook to see a bunch of amateurs using their fame to get a cookbook deal, it’s a thousand times better than when celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse used his fame to get a sitcom deal, so let’s just call it even.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the worst offenders.

Tony Danza – Don’t Fill Up on the Antipasto: Tony Danza‘s Father-Son Cookbook
Did you know that Tony Danza is Italian? I guess you probably did, since every character he’s ever played is a walking Italian stereotype. And what better way to further showcase his Italian heritage (a.k.a. squeeze blood from a turnip) than with an Italian cookbook. I guess he could have started doing Olive Garden commercials, but that might have cheapened the legacy of “Who’s the Boss?” Eh, fuggetaboutit!

Eva Longoria – Eva’s Kitchen: Cooking with Love for Family and Friends
This book doesn’t come out until April, but I’m sure it will be great. Of course, in my mind, it will consist mainly of pictures for recipes like “Eve’s Latin Ass Cake” and “Naked Titty Pie.” In actuality, it will probably be filled with bitter musings about her cheating husband. Try the ‘How To Kill Your Ex’ Cajun Chicken. I hear it’s delicious.
Just kidding! She’s a good actress. Even so, that title is really schmaltzy. I would have gone with “Delicious, Easy Recipes From the Woman Who Got Her Head Cut Off in Se7en.”
It’s more the harrowing tale of an obese woman’s life and death struggle with weight loss. But it does have a few of Carnie’s favorite dessert recipes, so I’ll count it.
Luckily, washed up rocker and rugged outdoors man Ted Nugent is here to help. Of course, his book leaves out the part about illegally baiting animals, or hunting them in a fenced-off area from which there is no chance of escape. But what else do you expect from an ass hat like “The Nuge.”
Of course, anyone who’s a big Kenny Rogers fan is probably in a nursing home without access to a kitchen. But even so, it’s the thought that counts. And the pictures will remind the reader of a simpler time, when “Coward of the County” ruled the airwaves, and it didn’t hurt to take a piss.
