Among the new pilots being given life are:

• A “Charlie’s Angels” remake.
• “Pan Am,” the 60s drama about flight attendants stewardesses flight attendants starring Christina Ricci.
• An untitled Tim Allen sitcom that features the grunting comedian”fighting for his manhood in a world increasingly dominated by women.” Sigh.
• “Apartment 23,” which used to have the word “bitch” in the title, but doesn’t anymore.
• “Good Christian Belles,” another show that used to have the word “bitch” in the title, but doesn’t anymore. This makes ABC the leading broadcaster of TV shows that used to have the word “bitch” in their titles, but don’t anymore. Congratulatons, ABC!

Unfortunately, for new shows to be born, other shows must meet the hard, cold kiss of death. Here are the ABC series set to cross the River Styx:

• “V,” a show about reptilian aliens that invade America. I guess this means the reptillians won.
• “Mr. Sunshine,” which has been cancelled despite decent ratings, reportedly in the wake of star Matthew Perry going to rehab. Heh.
Brothers and Sisters”
• “Off The Map“
• “No Ordinary Family”
• “Detroit 1-8-7“

There are no plot details yet, but if history is any indicator Tim Allen will mug for the camera while smelling hippo farts and Hanks will be trapped in the coils of an anaconda. Bonus points to Shulman if he includes the line, “There’s a snake in my boat!” (Deadline)

Get ready for some stereotypical alpha male behavior because Tim Allen might return to the boob tube. ABC and CBS have bee fighting for a comedy written by Jack Burditt “30 Rock“) and a potential star vehicle for the former “Home Improvement” dad, with ABC winning the tug ‘o war. “Man Up” is a “multi-camera family comedy about a guy fighting for his manhood in a world of women.” So instead of Allen and his three sons against a frazzled wife and mother, the grunter extraordinaire will be at the mercy of a sex that doesn’t know how to restore a vintage car. How will they ever see eye to eye?! If all else fails, just add more animated scene transitions. (Deadline)

Toy Story 3 lea the box office this weekend, bringing in an estimated $109 million. It was the largest opening ever for a Pixar film and the third largest opening so far in 2010.

The success of Toy Story should come as no surprise to anyone who pays attention to movie trends. The box office numbers simply prove what we here at Screen Junkies have known for years: kids love Tim Allen.  (Coming Soon)

When Andy heads off to college, adventure fanatic Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) takes his toy friends on a river-rafting trip into the dangerous American back-country. During a chance encounter with a group of locals, an offhand comment about moonshine by Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear (Beatty) leads to a violent sexual assault. Nothing makes me giddy like a Pixar trailer. Those (evil?) geniuses always knock it out of the park, and Toy Story 3 looks like no exception. All of our favorite toys are back, and they’re mixing it up with a new batch of playthings when they’re donated to a day care center. You’d think the rest of the movie would follow Woody and Buzz as tiny tots jam them into various orifices, but instead it appears they’re loving their new home. In The Closet Ken, voiced by Michael Keaton, convinces himself he has feelings for Barbie inspite of the new cowboy arrival, and Pervert the Octopus offers up massages (with happy endings, no doubt). 

Everything’s right as rain until the toys find out their abandoner, Andy, is looking for them. They decide to break out and go in search for the owner who cast them aside like yesterday’s garbage when he decided to go better himself at college. What a selfish prick. You don’t deserve these special toys, Andy! They’re too good for you! You hear me, Dad?! Oops… That’s an issue I need to take elsewhere.
