Maybe? Well, he’s in another movie, and I’m gonna be sure to look for him specifically this time.

Tom Wilkinson will star in director David Weaver’s The Samaritan with Samuel L. Jackson. The indie thriller is about a former grifter who’s trying to get out of the crime biz after spending 20 years in the big house. Since Wilkinson is playing a crime boss, I’m guessing that the crime world will pull Jackson back in. It’s like a black hole, that crime world. Except that it can’t trap light.

The film is ready to slink suspiciously into theaters early 2012. Weaver and Elan Mastai co-wrote the screenplay. (Variety)

Jackson is going to be the most foul-mouthed samaritan ever. Before he gets to work on the widely-anticipated The Avengers, he will be tackling a more vulnerable and less eye-patchy character named Foley in The Samaritan. Jackson will play a grifter who attempts to set his life straight after spending 20 years in the clink, but gets sucked back into the life by a former protegé. At press time, it was unknown if Jackson’s character was one day away from retirement and/or in the process of buying a boat.

I love the idea of Sam Jackson playing a grifter. The man has no shortage of confidence, and I’m pretty sure that he could get me to assault my own mother if he yelled at me enough. The film will be directed by David Weaver with Luke Kirby and Ruth Negga costarring. The film starts shooting this weekend in Toronto, where polite Canadians will simply smile and nod every time Jackson screams “motherfucker!” at passing strollers. (Deadline)
