Despite the fact that it’s been six years in the making and hasn’t been picked up by anyone, Tommy Wiseau’s The Neighbors is still promised to be coming soon. Much like diarrhea, we don’t know where and we don’t know when.

The director-writer-producer-actor has surrounded himself with young people once again for the porn-grade “sitcom,” and debuted this “INFO #1″ video to answer any questions you may have. But not really. This only serves to confuse and I think it’s also trying to sell me underwear. If your curiosity is piqued, Wiseau provides this synopsis:

SYNOPSIS OF “THE NEIGHBORS
“THE NEIGHBORS” IS A SITCOM ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN A GROUP OF NEIGHBORS WHO LIVE IN AN APARTMENT BUILDING. THE LEAD CHARACTER IS CHARLIE, THE MANAGER OF THE BUILDING. THE TENANTS ARE A DIVERSE GROUP OF PERSONALITIES; ALL OF DIFFERENT AGES AND BACKGROUNDS, CONSTANTLY BRINGING THEIR PROBLEMS TO CHARLIE AND HIS SECRETARY/GIRLFRIEND BEBE. THE CHARACTER OF PRINCESS PENELOPE CREATES A COMMOTION AFTER SHE WITNESSES THE GHOST OF HER UNCLE PRINCE CHARLES. IT IS A FRESH AND HUMOROUS LOOK AT HUMAN BEHAVIOR THROUGH DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW. THIS COCKTAIL OF CHARACTERS ALWAYS GUARANTEE PLENTY OF SURPRISES. THE DEMOGRAPHIC IS ALL INCLUSIVE.

PLOT:

IN THE PILOT, MARIANA IS OBSESSED ABOUT BUGS IN HER APARTMENT. MONICA CATCHES HER BOYFRIEND DEN IN BED WITH PATRICK. PRINCESS PENELOPE ARRIVES AND DARREN SERENADES HER WITH ACCOMPANIMENT FROM OTHER TENANTS. RICHARD BECOMES PRINCESS PENELOPE’S BUTLER AND HANDYMAN. ED PREPARES A BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR BEBE.

Also, of note, the amazing new website that Wiseau has created for the show. Like Wiseau’s films, there’s not much there yet there’s so much there. (AV Club)

The Disaster Artist, Greg Sestero’s tell-all about working with Tommy Wiseau on The Room, is a fun and entertaining read. Easily one of my favorites from last year. That doesn’t mean the world needs to see a film version.

James Franco begs to differ as he has optioned the book with plans to direct himself and brother, Dave Franco, in the lead roles.

That’s right. It’s a vanity project about the ultimate vanity project. Which is fine. I get it. James Franco likes to art, but does that mean we should want to watch it? Sitting through The Room is difficult enough. The only aspect that keeps the viewer in it is Wiseau’s bizarre performance. James Franco with a greasy wig and scotch tape over his eye just won’t conjure the same captivity.
The Room and Tommy Wiseau are only entertaining because they aren’t in on the joke. When you present the whole thing with a wink, it quickly gets boring. Even more boring than Dave Franco. (Deadline)

America’s Madman Tommy Wiseau has achieved fame and fortune for his work on the film The Room. The movie, which even your parents know about by now, has captivated audiences with its bizarre characters and strange set-pieces, such as an incredibly awkward game of short-distance catch with a football. And since Tommy Wiseau seems to be so genuinely insane and the movie so insanely bad, it really never occurred to anyone to doubt his authorial stamp on it. Well, here’s a depressing nugget of news for you: Someone else thinks he deserves a directorial credit on The Room. According to the film’s script supervisor Sandy Schklair, the following distinctly Wiseau-like exchange took place between them after Wiseau requested that Schklair “tell the actors what to do, and yell ‘Action’ and ‘Cut’ and tell the cameraman what shots to get”:

Schklair: “Umm…you want me to direct your project?”
Wiseau: “No I am director!”
Schklair: “Yeah, you’re the director, whatever. But you want me to direct your movie for you?”
Wiseau: “Yes, please.”

An anonymous actor who declined to be named (I’m guessing it was Wiseau, just to mess with us), had this corroborating report to offer:

“The script supervisor ended up sort of directing the movie. Tommy was so busy being an actor that this other guy directed the whole thing.”

Wiseau of course is denying everything in that weird voice where it’s hard to figure out if he understands what’s going on or not. It will be interesting how far Schklair will go to get his name attached to The Room, which he claims to have embraced the comedic aspect of and thus is responsible for that special Room-y feeling that drove the whole world insane. My guess is that this development will be unceremoniously dropped and then never referred to again. (via SlashFilm)

Somebody finally took the initiative and re-cast Darth Vader with Tommy Wiseau. Unlike Star Wars or The Room, the results are intentionally hilarious. This isn’t the slickest editing job and it’s a little long in some parts, but when they get it right they get it so right. Like, laugh out loud and annoy your girlfriend right. Besides wouldn’t you expect bad pacing, clunky editing, and nonsensical dialogue from a George LucasTommy Wiseau collaboration? Commitment to form, I say. (via Topless Robot with more episodes HERE)
