Somehow.

Tim & Eric aren’t the only ones trying to get people not to go see The Lorax. Fox News cuckoo bird Lou Dobbs sat in front of a television camera and made the accusation that The Lorax is part of a conspiracy between Hollywood and President Obama to brainwash our children. Dobbs, a grown man who gets paid for what he does, asserts that The Lorax and a film called The Secret World of Arrietty were created to “indoctrinate” children into supporting pro-environmental causes and the Occupy movements.

Dobbs claims the liberal media is ignoring the secret messages of these films that are “plainly demonizing the so-called ’1 percent’ and espousing the virtue of green-energy policies, come what may.” That’s a pretty obtuse way of seeing things. These films, like many others, are simply about likable characters standing up to total dickheads. Yes, The Lorax does deal with characters fighting off deforestation but so did Ferngully and Avatar and Woody Woodpecker. Another kids film recently maligned by Fox News was The Muppets also took a stance against greed.

Since Lou Dobbs (who likely has gardeners and landscapers at his spacious mansion which he didn’t lose when the economy crumbled) hates the environment so much, can we move him out to the desert?

Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax” is a classic children’s book that teaches kids to be more mindful of the natural world. Taylor Swift, on the other hand, teaches kids about drawing hearts on composition books. Now these two forces will collide, as Taylor Swift lends her voice to the upcoming 3D computer animated Dr. Seuss adaptation The Lorax.

She’s joining a pretty solid cast that includes Danny DeVito as the titular Lorax, Ed Helms as the Once’ler, Zac Efron as “Ted, the young boy who searched for the Lorax,” Rob Riggle as King O’Hare and Betty White as Grammy Norma. Swift herself will be playing Audrey, Ted’s love interest. Man, I wonder what Dr. Seuss would think of the idea of adding a “love interest” to his stories. He’d probably write a really angry rhyming couplet about it. (via Deadline)

Danny Devito Is ‘The Lorax’ http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/danny-devito-is-the-lorax/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/danny-devito-is-the-lorax/#comments Wed, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 Today I have some sad news for Wilford Brimley. Danny Devito has stepped into the lead role of Fox Animation's adaptation of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax. Zac Efron, Betty White, Ed Helms, and Rob Riggle also star in the CG animated film about a weird, little beast who defends nature against industrialization. In a case of life imitating art, Devito had this to ramble: “Look, I don’t want to be gruff about it, but we’ve got to wake up and smell the oil burning. I’m hoping that the squeakiest wheel gets the least grease. I feel sometimes the only way to get things done is shake people up a little bit, and the Lorax is not a guy who pussyfoots around. He’s not a guy who uses kid gloves. No, no, the Lorax means business.” Jim Carrey and Mike Myers, who both had to sit in a make-up chair for hours on end before performing beneath hot setlights in the equivalent of a fur coat for their Seuss roles, are reportedly thrilled that Danny Devito has to drive all the way to Burbank for two hours of work.
