The character descriptions and plot sound like they call for some weighty performances, and I can’t think of two actors better equipped to handle them than Penn and Bale. Bale will play the sole survivor of an attack against a group of Americans, while Penn is slated to play an ex-special ops soldier who gets back in the game to rescue a kidnapped relative. Bale offers his assistance in exchange for the story, and thus a partnership is made.

Production on the film won’t start until 2012, due to Bale’s involvement in The Dark Knight Rises. I would say that gives both actors plenty of time to work on their pouty faces, but they’ve already got them nailed down. (Deadline)
