Some Joel Courtneys have all the luck. The Super 8 star didn’t plan to be the breakout star of the summer when he moved to LA for acting classes and hopefully a commercial gig. It just happened that way. Now the young actor can add two new films to his already impressive resume.

Courtney has been cast to play Tom Sawyer in Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn and is in negotiations for the indie-thriller The Healer. He’ll play a disgruntled teen who goes camping with his dad and brother. Their familial bonding is cut short when they encounter an evil force.
