<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/arnold-schwarzenegger-120/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Arnold Schwarzenegger</a> is almost done governering California, but he&#8217;s not done with the &#8220;Governator&#8221; brand. There&#8217;s going to be a cartoon, a web series, a comic book, <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/the-governator-will-be-back-in-3d/">a 3D movie</a>, and probably a ViewMaster disc. Here&#8217;s a trailer for one facet of that exciting brand, the animated series that seems to take its cues from <em>The Matrix</em>, <em>Iron Man</em>, and the old cartoon &#8220;Super President&#8221; (look it up). It features killer robots attacking the city of San Francisco, and the newly-superpowered Schwarzenegger taking them out. There&#8217;s also a suspiciously and fit-looking <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/larry-king-in-talks-with-daily-show-viacom-increases-suspender-budget/">Larry King</a> at the beginning there.</p>
<p>This should be able to hold you over until late 2012 when this train-wreck is set to premiere. Or at least until the next trailer comes out.</p>

<description><![CDATA[Expect a 3D film to accompany the show, comic book, web series, and action figures.]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/arnold-schwarzenegger-300-cartoon.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-204820" style="margin-left: 7px; margin-right: 7px;" title="arnold-schwarzenegger-300-cartoon" src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/arnold-schwarzenegger-300-cartoon.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a>Wow. <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-lists/9-awful-cartoons-that-should-make-schwarzenegger-rethink-the-governator/" target="_blank">Arnold Schwarzenegger</a> is actually serious about this <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/the-governator-cartoon-demonstrates-arnold-has-a-bad-sense-of-humor/" target="_blank"><em>Governator</em></a> project. When he announced the animated project last week I&#8217;d assumed that now that he was out of office, he was re-inventing himself as a subversive comedian and this was his first public stunt. But now he&#8217;s announced that in addition to a comic book, animated series, and internet programming that nobody wants to see, an unwatchable 3D film is also in the works.</p>
<p>The film will feature the voice of Arnold as he plays a <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/superhero/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>superhero</a> bent on destroying the forces of evil in the world. But not the real life <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/terrorists/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>terrorists</a> because this is for the kids. Also, how can you sell them expensive 3D tickets when you&#8217;re shitting all over them?</p>
<blockquote><p>When asked if <em>The Governator </em>would take on the likes of Libyan leader Muʿammar Al-Qaḏḏâfî, Schwarzenegger paused to think a bit. Said Schwarzenegger: “Who knows? I don’t want to make headlines, that means you won’t write about <em>The Governator</em>. That might be going in the wrong direction. But the way things are going, we may have a chance of selling our series down there.”</p></blockquote>
<p>He then lit an expensive cigar with a hundred dollar bill before sexually harassing an intern from the animation company. When he realized the cameras were still recording, he quickly rebounded by saying, &#8220;Err&#8230; um, I mean&#8230; I&#8217;LL BE BACK.&#8221; And then we all laughed and had a good time because he said that thing he says a lot. (<a href="http://www.deadline.com/2011/04/the-governators-multi-platform-plans-unveiled-at-miptv/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Deadline</a>)</p>

<description><![CDATA[If history has taught us anything, it's that vanity cartoons based on the lives of real people just don't work. Need proof? Here's an ass-load of it.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/arnold-schwarzenegger-e1301602424185.jpg"><img src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/arnold-schwarzenegger-e1301606378689.jpg" alt='' title="arnold-schwarzenegger" width="500" height="308" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-204817" /></a></p>
<p>As our own Penn Collins recently reported, <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-lists/10-best-arnold-schwarzenegger-movie-quotes/" target="_blank">Arnold Schwarzenegger</a> is developing <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/the-governator-cartoon-demonstrates-arnold-has-a-bad-sense-of-humor/" target="_blank">a cartoon called &#8220;The Governator,&#8221;</a> a semi-autobiographical show depicting his return to a fictitious life of crime-fighting. Now, I&#8217;m not one to judge things before I have all the facts, but I do feel comfortable saying that this show will go over as well as a nuclear power plant in an <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/earthquake/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>earthquake</a> zone. Why am I so down on the plan? Because if history has taught us anything, it&#8217;s that vanity <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/cartoons-36/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>cartoons</a> based on the lives of real people just don&#8217;t work. Need proof? Here&#8217;s an ass-load of it.</p>
<h4>&#8220;The <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/gary-coleman-514/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Gary Coleman</a> Show&#8221;</h4>
<p><iframe title="<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/youtube-968/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>YouTube</a> video player&#8221; width=&#8221;550&#8243; height=&#8221;443&#8243; src=&#8221;http://www.youtube.com/embed/iZQSPfTq42M?rel=0&#8243; frameborder=&#8221;0&#8243; allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>This show isn&#8217;t a true vanity project, since Coleman doesn&#8217;t actually play himself. Still, his name is in the friggen title, so one can be forgiven for lumping it in with the rest of this list. In the show, Coleman played Andy LeBeau, an angel who is sent to Earth in order to get his wings. I&#8217;m not sure if the fact that Gary is now dead makes the intro funnier, or sadder. </p>
<h4>&#8220;Harlem Globetrotters&#8221;</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZIBGh1SLN9s?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>&#8220;The Harlem Globetrotters&#8221; was basically the same cartoon as &#8220;Scooby-Doo,&#8221; except it starred a bunch of big black dudes instead of a bunch of white <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/teenagers/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>teenagers</a>. Also, there&#8217;s no talking dog, and there&#8217;s a lot more basketball. OK, I admit that my description sounds absolutely nothing like &#8220;Scooby-Doo,&#8221; but trust me. It&#8217;s pretty much the same show.</p>
<h4>&#8220;<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/hulk-hogan-360/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Hulk Hogan</a>&#8216;s Rock &#8216;n&#8217; Wrestling&#8221;</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jPSra3AccE0?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/arnold-schwarzenegger-120/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Arnold Schwarzenegger</a> and <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/hulk/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Hulk</a> Hogan were both popular 80&#8242;s <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/action-stars/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>action stars</a>. But unlike Schwarzenegger, who went on to become a megastar, Hogan&#8217;s career quickly faded. While many will disagree, I place the blame for Hogan&#8217;s downfall squarely on &#8220;Hulk Hogan&#8217;s Rock &#8216;n&#8217; Wrestling,&#8221; and, to a lesser extent, that meddlesome Iron Sheik.</p>
<h4>&#8220;ProStars&#8221;</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/dFs6hasbf74?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>Before this cartoon came out, Jordan, Jackson and Gretzky were the best of friends. They would hang out on the weekends, watch each others&#8217; kids, go on vacations together, and all the other things that best friends do. But after the spectacular failure of their cartoon, the group was torn apart by petty bickering and finger pointing. In fact, it&#8217;s been ten years since Bo Jackson and Wayne Gretzky played a round of mini-golf together, which is something they used to do every Thursday. Thanks for nothing, &#8220;ProStars.&#8221;</p>
<h4>&#8220;<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/mr.-t-241/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Mr. T</a>&#8220;</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W4WAG0z-hDo?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>I pity the fool that has ever sat through an entire episode of Mr. T&#8217;s cartoon. I know a lot of you will appreciate it on some sort of ironic level. We&#8217;ll aren&#8217;t you cool? Wait, no you&#8217;re not. It&#8217;s crap. Don&#8217;t give me no back talk, sucka.</p>
<h4>&#8220;<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/chuck-norris-298/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Chuck Norris</a> <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/karate/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Karate</a> Kommandos&#8221;</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZX_sqxLWHig?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>Remember when all those lists were going around about how awesome Chuck Norris is? They were funny because he&#8217;s a joke. He became a joke because of crap like &#8220;Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos.&#8221; Well, that movie where he&#8217;s partnered with a police dog didn&#8217;t help, either. </p>
<h4"<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/i-am' target='_blank'>I Am</a> the Greatest: The Adventures of Muhammad Ali&#8221;</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/p9yn195wFZQ?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>Muhammad Ali may be the greatest of all time when it comes to boxing. But when it comes to making cartoons, he might be the shittiest. Take a look at the clip above. Why is he in space? Did he fucking punch his way there?</p>
<h4>&#8220;New Kids On The Block&#8221;</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mhMBqtZGSkk?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>I&#8217;m not sure what&#8217;s sadder: the fact that these douche hounds were popular enough to warrant a cartoon show, or the fact that even the gay dude probably got more vagina than I ever will. Either way, this cartoon was worse than a war crime.</p>
<h4>&#8220;Hammer Man&#8221;</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/w8WYh8uz3pQ?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>Holy shit! Holy friggen shit! Someone paid to produce this with the idea of making a return on their investment. Talking shoes? Dear lord, what a terrible premise. Yeah, lots of cartoons are built on stupid ideas, but most of them have enough sense not make a five minute introduction detailing said stupidity in a horrible rap song. At any rate, Arnold should look long and hard at this video before he goes any further with his own cartoon. </p>

<description><![CDATA[Remember when I was all, "It would be so obnoxious if Arnold Schwarzenegger became self-aware and campy?" I was right. ]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Cover-2_20110330235136.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-204659" style="margin-left: 7px; margin-right: 7px;" title="Cover-2_20110330235136" src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Cover-2_20110330235136.jpg" alt='' width="300" height="225" /></a>One can only hope that <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/arnold-schwarzenegger-120/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Arnold Schwarzenegger</a> is in on this joke. The worst fears brought about from Arnold&#8217;s announcement that he <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/arnold-schwarzenegger-does-want-to-act-again-after-all/" target="_blank">will return</a> to acting have manifested themselves in &#8220;<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/the-governator/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>The Governator</a>,&#8221; a semi-autobiographical animated series about the former governor&#8217;s departure from the capitol and back to his fictitious life on <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/fighting' target='_blank'>fighting</a> crime.</p>
<p>A couple creative flourishes <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2011/03/confirmed-arnold-schwarzenegger-to-become-cartoon-superhero/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">this Deadline story</a> cites the series as having:</p>
<ul>
<li>The &#8220;Arnold Cave&#8221; located under his house in Brentwood</li>
<li>A closet of &#8220;Super Suits&#8221; (Armani?)</li>
<li>A 13 year-old (!) computer whiz (there is 0% chance this kid will be white)</li>
<li>A villainous team known as &#8220;G.I.R.L.I.E. Men&#8221; (this just saddens me; I have no joke)</li>
</ul>
<p>Hard to tell who the target market for this is going to be. It seems too contrived to appeal to anyone on an ironic level, and the kids who watch this sort of thing are (frighteningly) too young to really know who Arnold is. And adults won&#8217;t watch this crap because it&#8217;s a cartoon.</p>
<p>The character was unveiled on the cover of this week&#8217;s Entertainment Weekly, designed by no less than Stan Lee. Which means that of course there will be a <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/disney-buys-marvel/" target="_blank">comic book</a> attached. Which will look awesome next to your Newt Gingrich <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/action-figures/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>action figures</a>.</p>
