Called That Sh*t: Max Von Sydow Might Join ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’
Tuesday, August 17 by

Last week when I reported that Stellan Skarsgard would possibly join the cast of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as Martin Vanger I questioned why Max Von Sydow wasn't on board yet. The man is practically a God in Sweden and deserves to be in Fincher's Sweden-based thriller. Now it appears Von Sydow is in talks to play retired industrialist Henrik Vanger, Martin's uncle and former CEO of Vanger Corp. So basically, I called that sh*t.
I realize all the hubbub was over who would play Lisbeth Salander, and Rooney Mara landed the role yesterday, but I've always been more concerned about Von Sydow. Sure, he's older now and his eyes bulge out of his skull a little too far, but he's sure to give Skarsgard and Daniel Craig a run for their money. I'll now start petitioning for Dolph Lundgren's involvement. He's making a comeback with The Expendables and I'm sure the film has a role for a giant, seven-language-speaking Swede. Or Mike Tyson.

Rooney Mara Lands Lisbeth Salander Role in Fincher’s ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’
Monday, August 16 by

Hollywood's most prominent young actresses can quit their cat fighting. Rooney Mara has been granted the coveted role of Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon tattoo adaptation. Her deal includes an option for two sequels based off the second and third book in the Millennium Trilogy, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.
Mara, younger sister of hottie Kate Mara, will run and hack computers alongside Daniel Craig, who's already been cast as the investigative journalist and part owner of the magazine Millenium. Both Robin Wright and Stellan Skarsgard are also in talks for roles. Our deepest condolences go out to Ellen Page, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Carey Mulligan, Mia Wasikowska, Emily Browning, and every other starlet who really REALLY wanted to nab the role of the decade. We hope these words help you in your time of grief: Life's unfair and stuff. (Deadline)

Robin Wright to Play Daniel Craig’s Ladyfriend in ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’
Friday, August 6 by

We keep getting casting news on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo except the news we care about. No, they still haven't found the actress who will play the computer hacker Lisbeth Salander, but Robin Wright has joined the film as Daniel Craig's casual f*ck buddy. According to Deadline, Wright "is in talks to play Erika Berger, the publisher of crusading finance magazine Millennium, and the occasional lover of journalist Mikael Blomkvist."
With Fincher directing, I hope Wright and Craig remember to stay well-hydrated. He'll have them simulating sex take after take after take to Nine Inch Nails until they can't possibly simulate sex any longer. Craig will get frustrated, Wright will get sore, and Fincher will confer with Brad Pitt, who I assume lives in his shirt pocket.

Stellan Skarsgard Flirting with ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’
Thursday, August 5 by

He's Sweden's Robert Pattinson.
Stellan Skarsgard is in talks to do take after take after take alongside Daniel Craig in David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He would play Martin Vanger, a suspect in the 40-year-old disappearance of a teenage girl. Hey Variety, tell us what Skarsgard had to say:
"I've met (helmer David) Fincher; I want to work with him; he wants to work me. I've had a concrete offer and now we are in negotiations. The contract is for the period September to March, but I don't know yet when I am supposed to start my part of the film."
This casting makes perfect sense since Skarsgard is Swedish and the film will take place in Sweden. But what of Stellan's son Alexander, who is ripe for the picking due to his recent "True Blood" success. Not to mention Max von Sydow. The man is a God over there.

Give him a call already, Fincher. He's practically begging you.

Daniel Craig Confirmed For David Fincher’s ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’
Monday, July 26 by

Daniel Craig (pictured above as Indiana Jones and the Raiders Of The Iron Man Prop Closet) has been officially confirmed as the lead in David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Now that the Bond franchise won't be calling upon him anytime soon, Craig is free to pop over to Sweden to shoot with Fincher as soon as he wraps Jon Favreau's Cowboys and Aliens.
Craig will play a journalist who teams up with a young hacker to take down a powerful Swedish family, just like Inspector Gadget (Ed. Note: it's nothing like Inspector Gadget). Fincher's still on the hunt for his tatted female lead, reportedly having narrowed his list down to five young actresses: Emily Browning, Rooney Mara, Sophie Lowe, Sara Snook, and French cinema royalty Lea Seydoux are all up for the part. But only one will be deemed worthy of the basilisk tramp stamp. Developing… (Deadline)

More Young Actresses Hope To Ink ‘Girl With Dragon Tattoo’ Lead
Wednesday, July 21 by

David Fincher has got the ladies lining up. His English-version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is gearing up for a December 21st, 2011 release date without any of its casting in place yet. Daniel Craig is up for the lead, but scheduling conflicts may have him running around dressed like a cowboy for Jon Favreau longer than anticipated. The story everyone is wondering about, however, is who will snag the role of Lisbeth Salander?
Emily Browning, Rooney Mara, Sophie Lowe, and Sara Snook have been added to the expanding list of actresses up for the part. Speculation is heavy, however, that Fincher will cast an unknown for the role. Die Antwoord singer Yo-Landi Vi$$er has also been buzzed about for the role. For reference, here is a picture of what Vi$$er looks like… on purpose.

I don't know. I like the idea of using an unknown, but Yo-Landi looks like she was designed by Guillermo del Toro. They should go with an actress who won't give the audience nightmares. (Variety)

Daniel Craig Wants a ‘Dragon Tattoo’
Friday, June 4 by

Daniel Craig hasn't made a movie since 2008, but it looks as if his schedule is about to fill up fast. The actor best known as James Bond is close to nabbing the part of Mikael Blomkvist in David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The film is the first in a three-part series based on the crime novels of Stieg Larsson, and Craig is expected to sign on for all three installments.Rumor has it that Brad Pitt was close to landing the role, but was "edged out" when a bikini-clad Craig showed up at David Fincher's house and offered to wash the director's car. Fincher filmed the wash, and was so impressed by Craig's physique the he offered him the job on the spot. True story. (Collider)

Hollywood’s Leading Starlets All Vying for ‘Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Role
Friday, May 7 by

Every young actress in Hollywood is vying for the lead in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It's like their Captain America.Executives at Sony insist that they are nowhere near casting the part, but Carey Mulligan, Ellen Page, Kristen Stewart, Mia Wasikowska, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Olivia Thirlby, and Scarlett Johannsen are actively campaigning for the role all the same. Mulligan has lunched with the screenwriter and Page has written a heartfelt note to the producer. Johannsen gave Hathaway an upper-decker and Kristen Stewart has just kinda stood around looking emo. Despite these sincere attempts, director David Fincher may cast an unknown for the part because he feels the material is strong enough to not require a name actress.Although Brad Pitt has reportedly been offered the male lead. They should just cast Angelina. I'm sure she has a dragon tattooed on her someplace. (Deadline)
