If you’re an actor in Hollywood, I don’t know whether or not it’s a compliment to be approached for The Expendables. With the over-the-hill actioner sequel on the horizon, producer Avi Lerner is already confident there’ll be a third go-round and he’s got the ball rolling on casting. Of course, a third Expendables really depends on the sequel’s box office and whether or not the lead cast make it through the next few years.

The actors who fit Lerner’s criteria of being old as dirt are Nicolas Cage (who has already committed to the film), Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, and Wesley Snipes. It’s a shame that Pat Morita weren’t still with us. He’d be great in this. (Total Film)

‘The Expendables 2′ Will Be PG-13 Because Chuck Norris Demanded It

When watching the copious amounts of exploding body parts in The Expendables my first thoughts were a) AWESOME, and b) Sylvester Stallone should direct Final Destination movies. But don’t count on seeing as many disgusting death scenes in the upcoming Simon West-directed sequel, The Expendables 2. The film is going to be rated PG-13. Thanks to Chuck Norris.

In all fairness, sources say that Norris implored that only vulgar language be cut from the film. Stallone has also done his best to ease worries, “Our final battle is one for the ages. The PG-13 rumour is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level. This movie touches on many emotions that we want to share with the broadest audience possible, BUT, fear not, this Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing will not leave anyone hungry…”

After a pause, he followed that statement with, “No homo.”

Look, the original film showed a guy dying by essentially having his head kicked off. Let’s hope that the sequel at least matches the over-the-top violence of the first. Otherwise, what will they put the emphasis on? Plot?!? (AICN)

The Old Gang’s Back Together In ‘The Expendables 2′ Teaser

It’s a good week for short glimpses of Bruce Willis. Just days after he shot up monitors in the G.I. Joe: Retaliation trailer, here he is again in a preview of The Expendables 2. Not much is given away in the sense of plot except for Willis approaching Sly Stallone‘s Barney to assign him a shady mission. Then we watch a Marine tattoo transform into another tattoo, before seeing quick shots of various action stars holding big guns. No crazy stunts or dangling from airplanes in this commercial. But, it does end on a cool shot of Arnold Schwarzenegger firing a shotty. It’s good to see him with a weapon in his hands again. While Governor he had to abstain, totally unlike the governors in Arnold Schwarzenegger movies.

The poster for The Expendables 2 (or EX2, as non-noobs call it) is here. Drink in its magnificence. It is your only chance in the modern day to see a poster featuring either Jean Claude Van Damme or Chuck Norris that isn’t completely ridiculous and straight-to-DVD. In the image, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Norris, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, some chick, Van Damme, and Terry Crews form the popular “totem pole” tactical position. It’s a very effective psosition when your enemies are on ladders.

This movie is going to do gangbusters in Germany.

Chuck Norris And Jean-Claude Van Damme To Join ‘Expendables 2′ Because Screw You

Sylvester Stallone continues to pull in action-star talent onto the set of The Expendables 2. Today, he confirmed that Jean-Claude Van Damme (heretofore referred to as “The Muscles from Brussels”) and Chuck “Nicknames Are for Pussies” Norris will be joining the cast that further includes Sly, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, and Dolph Lundgren.

According to Stallone, the sequel will feature a big showdown between himself and The Muscles from Brussels. He went on to say that he thinks Nic Cage is on board, while John Travolta‘s involvement is “possible.”

The film is set for release August 17th, 2012, so there’s plenty of time to sign up Johnny Weismuller and John Wayne as well.

Oh. Apparently those guys have been dead for 27 and 32 years, respectively. Huh. Then let’s get Michael Dudikoff.

All Your Favorite Old Guys Rumored For ‘Expendables 2′

In The Expendables, Sylvester Stallone proved that old guys can still kick ass with the help of heavy artillery. So it’s no surprise the sequel is in the works. Simon West is directing but we’ve yet to hear which aged action stars would break out the Icy Hot for a sequel.

According to some guy in Bulgaria, the cast will consist of Stallone, Jason Statham, John Travolta, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis. Take this news with a grain of salt because it’s far from an official announcement but it would be pretty cool to see. No plot details have been given either, but let’s assume that Stallone and the other guys have to go up against Chuck Norris. They lose, of course. But that would be a fun fight to watch for a few minutes. (via Collider)

Action Director West To Direct Action In ‘Expendables 2′

The Expendables 2 has found a director as solemn and understated as the story itself in Simon West. The decision to go with the Con Air director is the result of an exhaustive search that for a while saw star Sylvester Stallone as the frontrunner until he recused himself.

Expendables 2 has been in motion for quite some time, with a polished draft produced by Ken Kaufman and David Agosto, so it’s no surprise that a helmer was quick to be named so that they can get to blowin’ shit up before some of the stars become too fragile.

All principals, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews, Jason Statham, and of course, Sly, are expected to return. The director announcement provides certainty to the production timeline, but nothing can get started until Simon West wraps up Medallion, with noted crazy person Nicolas Cage. (Deadline)

‘Expendables 2′ Teaser Poster Bursts Through Your Skull

I’m not sure I’d want anything bursting out of my skull, but seeing a chrome-plated “2″ bursting out of a metal skull is pretty awesome. This is the first ever teaser poster for Lionsgate‘s The Expendables 2 taken from a magazine at Cannes. The project hasn’t even started filming yet, but already it’s attempting to kick your ass with marketing.

A plot synopsis has also been released. It’s after the poster, in case you don’t want to spoil the “plot” of a movie about seeing people’s arm break in crazy ways. Sylvester Stallone will return (to star, not to direct) along with “most of the original cast,” though no specific announcements have been made. Judging from the plot synopsis, I can tell you one cast member who either won’t appear or will have very limited screen time. *Seals Lips*

The Expendables was a surprise hit last year when it opened on an adjacent date – the 13th of August. Clearly, Stallone (who isn’t directing this time, just “acting”) and Co. are trying to recapture that violent old man magic. Stallone Knocked Himself Out Of ‘Expendables 2′ Director’s Chair?

Fans of explosions and arm-breakings may be upset by the news that Sylvester Stallone will most likely not be directing the sequel to his smash-hit brainchild, The Expendables. The rumor is that Rocky’s looking for someone else to sit in the foldout chair like a weakling, while him and his Muscle Buddies crack more bones on camera.

Apparently, Expendables 2 has already been “written” by scribes Ken Kaufman (Space Cowboys) and David Agosto. That means the old writers Dave Callaham and Stallone himself are out. Why would Stallone remove himself so much creatively from the sequel to his $275 million kickassterpiece? Maybe he’s developing a new movie where actors who played boxers in different movies form a team of boxer vigilantes called The Night Boxers? Yeah, now that I think about it, I’m sure that’s it.
