Jon Stewart is a little miffed at the media, in case you haven’t watched The Daily Show…ever. Now that Rupert Murdoch, Chairman of NewCorp, which owns Fox and Fox News, has stepped up to buy Time Warner and CNN, he’s stepping up.

He’s launching a Kickstarter campaign to buy CNN for $10 billion. He doesn’t know what he’s going to do yet, but he’ll take your money and figure it out later. The clip is funnier than the premise, which would require about every American to contribute $40 to this campaign. EVEN THE POOR ONES.

Fans of The Daily Show will have to adjust to a slightly different, yet familiar, type of snark as Jon Stewart takes a couple months off this summer to tackle his first directing gig, and TDS “correspondent” John Oliver steps in to see us through the dog days.

Oliver, in typical dry, pithy, British fashion, blogged, “”Don’t worry, it’s still going to be everything that you love about The Daily Show, just without the thing that you love the most about it.” Oh, John with an “h,” you’re just as special as “h”-less Jon, and don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise.

Oliver steps in on June 10th with guest Seth Rogen, who many of you may know as having played schlubs his entire acting career.

Jon Stewart has announced he’s leaving the fake news desk for a brief hiatus to direct his first feature film. The Daily Show host will overturn his hosting/eyebrow-wiggling duties to correspondent John Oliver while he spends his summer vacation shooting Rosewater from his own script.

Fans of Stewart’s snarky, subversive style of comedy can walk right out that door and never come back or call or write, because the serious subject matter of this film will be a departure from what we’ve seen Stewart do. Based on the book Then They Came For Me: A Family’s Story Of Love, Captivity And Survival, the movie will tell the true story of BBC journalist Maziar Bahari’s 118-day imprisonment and torture in Iran. The journalist had initially been visiting the country for one week while covering their 2009 presidential elections, but was taken captive and brutally interrogated for months by a stranger he could identify only by their scent of rosewater.

Not to tell local Iranian law enforcement how to do their job or anything, but seems to me that the torturer may have also been a florist. They should follow up on that. (Deadline)

“Journalist” Larry King has been speaking with”The Daily Show” execs about contributing…whatever the hell he brings to the table. Softball questions? Awkward stares into the camera? Larry King has announced via Twitter that he’s embarking on a comedy tour, so perhaps he’s been sitting on a stockpile of wit that CNN never let him demonstrate. I’m doubtful, but for “The Daily Show” to see something in him, maybe he deserves the benefit of the doubt. It’s unlikely they’ll need him to serve as “resident hot girl,” but if he does…then God help us all.

Per Deadline, the program actually reached out to him, suggesting that perhaps they’re trying to expand their demographic to include the type of people that are still interested in the JonBenet Ramsey case and Michael Jackson‘s doctor. No other info is available, as the conversations are preliminary, but his contributions would be similar to those of John Hodgman and Lewis Black (in frequency, anyway), so Jon Stewart‘s job is safe. For now.

Olivia Munn Joins ‘The Daily Show’ http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/olivia-munn-joins-the-daily-show/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/olivia-munn-joins-the-daily-show/#comments Wed, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 In a bid to make the program more fappable, "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" has added Olivia Munn as the new "Senior Asian Correspondent." Munn appeared on last night's program to report the plight of Vietnamese fishermen effected by the spill in the Gulf. She will continue to appear throughout the coming weeks as she continues to try out for the show. I can understand Olivia's wanting to be on a show where her co-host doesn't seek every opportunity to feel her up, but I really feel like she'd fit better as the "Senior Nerd Correspondent." If anyone can get the truth out of an overweight virgin in a Destro costume, it's her. How'd she do? Check out the clip after the jump....
