UPDATE: FOX is going to be releasing some clips in the next hour or so, so watch this space if you’re interested.

Everyone hates summer. We’re forced out of our homes by reruns on TV, only to be assaulted by bright sunlight, abrasively green grass, and painfully hot sand. Thankfully, there’s an end in sight to the awful onslaught of summer, as evidenced by FOX’s fall schedule. Here is the darkness at the end of the painfully bright tunnel:

Monday: “Terra Nova,” the impressively ambitious show with dinosaurs or something at 8 PM, followed by “House” at 9 PM.

Tuesday: Some show called”Glee” at 8 PM, followed by the new “The New Girl” with Zooey Deschanel at 9, then “Raising Hope” at 9:30.

Wednesday: “The X-Factor,” which is different from “American Idol” in dozens of ways, starts at 8 PM. Then it’s “I Hate My Teenage Daughter” with Jamie Pressly at 9:30. That’s right, “The X-Factor” is on for an hour and a half.

Thursday: The evening starts at 8 PM with the results show of “The X-Factor,” which mercifully is only an hour long. Then after that it’s “Bones” at 9.

Friday: “Kitchen Nightmares” at 8 PM followed by”Fringe” at 9. That’s why it’s the most popular TV night of the week!

Saturday: “Cops” is inexplicably still on the air at 8 PM, followed by reruns and “occasional” “America’s Most Wanted” after that at 9.

Sunday: It’s Sunday night animation, starting whenever all that football stuff is over -”The Cleveland Show,”"The Simpsons,” a new show from Jonah Hill called “Allen Gregory,”"Family Guy,” and “American Dad.”

Well, there you have it. Keep this in mind as you struggle to make it through another punishing summer. And remember, you can always watch reruns. (The Hollywood Reporter)

FOX has renewed their popular animated sitcomsFamily Guy” and”The Cleveland Show.” Seth MacFarlane could make it rain cheddar for a week and still have enough left over for sandwiches. Here’s the  press release:

FOX has renewed ANIMATION DOMINATION favorite FAMILY GUY for a tenth season and THE CLEVELAND SHOW for a fourth season, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.

“For nine seasons, our viewers have been cracked up, delighted, surprised and, at times, gloriously disturbed by the mind of Seth MacFarlane – and they keep coming back for more,” said Reilly. “The Griffins and the Browns have become cornerstones of our Sunday nights, and we can’t wait to find out what new adventures Seth, Mike and Rich cook up for them next season.”

Looks like your Sunday night Animation Domination is secure, America.

Tornados have devastated the South, killing 300 people in their wake. Far less important: Fox is postponing new episodes of their animated series because of it. I think we’ll all manage just fine.

Due to national sensitivity about the storms, Fox is holding off on airing special crossover episodes of “Family Guy,” “American Dad” and “The Cleveland Show” until next season. The story device that brings all the universes together is a hurricane, so I can see how that would be in poor taste. Then again,”Family Guy” has aired lengthy musical numbers about people contracting AIDS and teenagers abandoning their babies in a dumpster, so I wouldn’t call Seth MacFarlane and Fox, “America’s Most Sensitive Content Team.”

I like that they’re employing the far-under utilized TV crossover gimmick, though these shows have all overlapped several times in the past. At least, “Family Guy” has with the other two. Now, if there was a “Simpsons” / MacFarlaneverse crossover, with some “Bob’s Burgers” sprinkled in, you’d have my very valuable attention. (Deadline)

Review: ‘The Cleveland Show’ Season 2 Premiere http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/review-the-cleveland-show-season-2-premiere/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/review-the-cleveland-show-season-2-premiere/#comments Wed, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 If minor spoilers frighten you, turn back now. “The Cleveland Show” season premiere opens with Cleveland behaving really inappropriately with children. Donna even joins him. Probably the best development of Cleveland’s character in his spinoff is that he’ll get really angry and swear. He’s not the harmless neighbor anymore, but his anger is really only personal frustration. This is another Kanye West episode. You may remember, or you may be hearing for the first time right now, that he plays local rap artist Kenny West. He seems to have a good sense of humor, giving voice to Kenny’s self-referential comment on the women in his videos, and dissing Rock of Love. More after the jump...

This is another Kanye West episode. You may remember, or you may be hearing for the first time right now, that he plays local rap artist Kenny West. He seems to have a good sense of humor, giving voice to Kenny’s self-referential comment on the women in his videos, and dissing Rock of Love.

More after the jump…

He actually still makes a joke about Beyonce not winning the VMA. Cleveland does the “So and So doesn’t care about black people” joke. Sorry, did I need to say spoiler alert? You knew they were going to go there.

You get a full Kenny West song, which means an original Kanye West song, even if it is a spoof performed in character. There’s also a bit of Cleveland doing a good song spoof, which I wish they would have let go on longer but I get it, they have to move on.

A subplot of the episode is Cleveland’s obsession with Barack Obama. It’s a silly reference but it gets some comedy mileage out of the running gag, and there’s a really sly political dig in the first riff. The Obama impersonator who ultimately does the voice doesn’t really sound like him. They couldn’t get Fred Armisen?

There are no cutaway gags. Have they given that up on this spinoff? They were always “Family Guy” light, but at least it gave it more edge than “American Dad.” They make references within the show, but there’s no “This is worse than the time that so and so did such and such.”

This episode does have an ‘80s style montage, a Twitter reference in irreverent “Family Guy” style, a mainstream hip hop Planet Hollywood-esque restaurant and a mistaken appearance by a “Family Guy” B-player. Freeze frame the Billboard charts to see the real jokes.

There are also some real reaches setting up extended sequences that aren’t as funny as they think they are. Cleveland acts the opposite of the way he should given the information he received. That’s just trying to make a joke out of something that’s not a joke.

I’m not really as into the spinoffs at I am the original “Family Guy” so I’d say if you’re like me, there’s nothing really amazing in this episode. I’d imagine if you are a “Cleveland” fan, the Kenny West stuff would be gold, and Rallo gets a good subplot too.

The creator of "Family Guy" and "American Dad" has put about $20,000 worth of customized equipment into the vehicle in order to match its onscreen counterpart. According to one insider who has seen the car up close, it is nothing short of "insane." Some people will say that MacFarlane is a real butthead, and that spending so much money is about as useful as a screen door on a battleship. But those people should make like a tree and get outta here.

CLEVELAND FROM FAMILY GUY – Watch more Funny Videos

The panel for the "The Family Guy" spinoff "The Cleveland Show" didn’t have as much hype as the panels that were premiering big movie trailers or had anything remotely to do with either Lost or Twilight.  What it did bring, however, was laughs, and lots of them.  Instead of rambling, the group of panelists, which included Seth Macfarlane, Mike Henry, Jamie Kennedy, and the rest of the principal cast, let the show speak for itself, showing an extended clip of the pilot and a clip of an episode airing in December…

The first clip established Cleveland as a surrogate father to the new cast, including roughing up a boyfriend (Jamie Kennedy as the “urban enthusiast” Federline Jones) of his new flame’s daughter Roberta, as well as teaching the young Rollo (think Stewie mixed with Tim Meadows‘ "Ladies’ Man" character) how to sneak looks at the ladies in his kindergarten class without getting caught.

The second clip was a favorite with the guests in Ballroom 20.  When Cleveland tries to get Roberta to pledge her virginity to God, Cleveland Jr. jumps to pledge himself to God in an effort to impress his dad.  Cleveland, being the ladies’ man he is, does not want his son to be a hapless virgin.  Cleveland’s technique for getting his son to realize the dire need to lose one’s virginity, you ask?  Show him the inside of a comic book convention.  That backfires, however, when they both realize that there’s a bunch of cool stuff at comic-book conventions.

The style of the show seemed very similar to "Th Family Guy," judging by the clips.  One might go so far as to ask, “Well, what’s different about it, then?”  Awesome question!  So awesome, Screen Junkies already asked Cleveland himself, Mike Henry.  Video clip ahoy!

CLEVELAND FROM THE FAMILY GUY 2 – Watch more Funny Videos

Not mentioned is the presence of other guest actors, such as legendary director David Lynch playing “A bartender who looks a lot like legendary director David Lynch.”

The group also mentioned that while they intend to have some "Family Guy" crossover, they intend to let Cleveland do his own thang on his own show.  Judging by the response the clips got, and Mike Henry’s winning enthusiasm for the show, it seems like the Macfarlane factory has another hit on their hands.  I, for one, have always wanted "Family Guy" to be funkier, sweeter, and feature Christmas songs with Earth, Wind, and Fire.  It seems like The Cleveland Show is addressing all of my concerns.
