With the NFL season kicking off this weekend, the hottest topic of discussion is Peyton Manning’s neck injury, which will keep him from building on his impressive streak of 208 consecutive starts. Word today is that Manning is currently undergoing neck surgery because his head is on the verge of falling off or something. Whatever. This is a movie site. Go somewhere else for sports news.

However, because we’re a movie/TV/entertainment site, we would be remiss if we didn’t use Manning’s misfortune to capitalize on the soon-to-be influx of Google searches on his name. So, let’s all send some positive vibes to Manning, hoping that he not only can regain his health, but return to the gridiron, where the guy is every team’s worst nightmare when he has two minutes left and the ball.

Vibes sent? Great. Now let’s appreciate Manning for his work off the field. No, not charity. That’s lame. His unique brand of deadpan comedy that has made him one of the most marketable athletes in the world.

9. Football Cops

Not his most inspired work, but it’s amazing how much comedic mileage simply slapping on a fake mustache and a police uniform can get you.

Big drawback here: Being paired up once again with Eli. Eli’s just not that funny. We get it. They’r brothers.

Still…mustaches!

8. Priceless Pep Talks – Love Handles

Just because he’s being a dick doesn’t mean he’s wrong. Sorry, Jesse

7. Sprint Commercial

Hmm. We’re only three entries in and we’ve already got two that heavily rely on Peyton Manning wearing a fake mustache. I don’t care.

I apologize for nothing.

One hundred and eleven million people watched the Superbowl yesterday. ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN MILLION!!!! 111,000,000!!! AHH!! that is so many millions. So very many millions of people sitting in front of a football game, watching the Black Eyed Peas ruin Tron AND music in one fell swoop. Congratulations, everyone! We did it! We shattered the record previously held by last year’s Superbowl, which pulled in 106.5 million, or the “M*A*S*H” finale, which was viewed by 106 million people back in 1983. As a die hard fan of really expensive ad space and different colored helmets, I was a happy camper. However, to get real for a minute, only half a million people watched FX’s “Terriers” this past season, and 111 million people watched Fergie butcher Sweet Child Of Mine. My country tis of thee, sweet land of Black Eyed Peas, OF THEE I SING! (Hollywood Reporter)

Stern Calls Leno “Horrible” On ‘Letterman’, Leno Cries Himself To Sleep http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/stern-calls-leno-horrible-on-letterman-leno-cries-himself-to-sleep/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/stern-calls-leno-horrible-on-letterman-leno-cries-himself-to-sleep/#comments Sat, 05 Feb 2011 02:41:48 +0000 Geoffrey Golden http://www.screenjunkies.com/?post_type=Video&p=25078 Stern also thinks that during last year's Superbowl commercial, Letterman should have "finish[ed] him off" when he had the chance. I'd watch that this year.

Conan O’Brien has a new show. Jay Leno got his old job back, albeit in the most snakish way imaginable. David Letterman has probably dropped something crazy off a rooftop recently. Yes, more than a year later, everybody’s moved on from the late night wars, except for shock jock Howard Stern. Of course, Stern was never a part of the wars to begin with, but like the kid who tells his friend to fight a bully because his DS broke and he’s bored, Stern was on “Letterman” recently, goading him to retake the late night ratings crown from Mister Evilchin.

In the clip above, Stern says Leno is “horrible” and “talentless,” and Letterman only laughed in response. We used Google Translator to convert Nervous Laughter into English, and Letterman’s response was, “duh, but I’m gonna keep my mouth shut, cause I don’t want to get uncomfortable looks from Rickey Minor at parties.”

Stern also thinks that during last year’s Superbowl commercial, Letterman should have “finish[ed] him off” when he had the chance. I’d watch that this year. Of course, we’ve already seen the results of a full on Leno / Letterman battle, and it ain’t pretty for either host. (CBS News)

‘Shutter Island’ Superbowl Spot http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/shutter-island-superbowl-spot/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/shutter-island-superbowl-spot/#comments Wed, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 Shutter Island Superbowl Spot - Watch more Funny VideosHere's an early leak of the Superbowl spot for Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island. This spot does away with the slow build we've seen in the others and jumps right into the psyche-bending action. It looks unlike anything Scorsese has done before and seems like it could be an entertaining winter film. It was also announced that there will be no TV spot for Iron Man 2 during this year's Superbowl. With that in mind, I'm not sure why Paramount would release this before the big game. It seems like it will have little competition. I guess their logic is to build a little additional buzz in the hopes that some extra eyes will see it. Either that or they're helping us all plan our pee breaks. If so, thanks!!
