With J.J. Abrams up to his glasses in Super 8 post and promotions, it’s been a little quiet on the Star Trek 2 front. But now as he puts the finishing touches on his “I like you. Do you like me?” note to Spielberg, it looks like things are ramping up.

Chris Pine took to his Facebook page today to update fans that he’ll totally be slattherin’ some space-stank on his hangdown in this sequel.

“After a thousand questions regarding the Star Trek sequel I can finally sa I am holding the draft script in my hand.  I can also now tell you I have a love interest and it’s all looking very exciting. Sorry but I cant give you a date for filming yet, but you guys are going to love it!”

This raises questions from the fans. First, what does it feel like? This love, you speak of. Secondly, who will the love interest be? Someone we already know? Someone from the original series? A totally hot alien with extra boobs?? Or a totally hot alien with a cup-holder? Because that would be fantastic. (MTV)

Rosario Dawson has made it clear that she’d like to appear as a sexy Klingon in the Star Trek sequel. I added the “sexy” part. The actress has been harassing her poor Unstoppable co-star Chris Pine, in the hopes of landing a cameo. She says that she’s secretly a huge Trekkie. Quick! Somebody sound the NERD ALERT! I’d do it myself, but I’m busy watching these “Supernatural” deleted scenes.

“I’m a big Trekkie. I’ve been very good at hiding it. I was trying to keep it cool and now the cat is out of the bag. I love J. J. Abrams, I’ve got a whole petition going online on twitter that I could be in the next film, just a Klingon, something, anything at one point! Just go on and say ‘Kapla’ or something. Then I’d be happy, I’d be very, very satisfied.”

Of course that assumes that Klingons will appear in the sequel. As of right now, no plot specifics have been released, so she may be campaigning in vain. Although, she did say she’d appear as “anything at this point.” Maybe she’d be up for playing a pair of Tribbles. (Collider)

Big news for people who cherish their virginity: Star Trek 2 will not feature Khan Noonien Singh (a.k.a. Khan) as the villain. At least that’s what everyone else seems to be saying, even though it’s all based on an unnamed "source" who emailed Badass News. But if not Khan, who will be the antagonist?

"The e-mail read, “It’s definitely a character that will make fans of [The Original Series] excited. Think along the lines of Harry Mudd or Trelane or Gary Mitchell or the Talosians or the Horta. Actually it’s one of those that I named.”

Those are all fine choices, but I really feel like they should be utilizing the evil whales from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. (Latino Review)

Experts claimed that there would never ever be another Star Trek film. Despite their assurances, director J.J. Abrams is scheduled to begin shooting a sequel in January, according to actor Bruce Greenwood. As you’ll remember, Greenwood played everyone’s favorite Enterprise Captain, Christopher Pike.

"I just know that the plan is to film it in January, more than that, I don’t know," Greenwood said, adding that he hoped to have a role in the movie.

While there is no word on the script, I’m hoping it involves time travel. I just think it’s really neat, and it’s only been used as a major plot point in about a third of all the Star Trek films, so it’s still fresh. (Coming Soon)
