The indefinite postponement is attributed to the script by Drew Goddard. A spokesman for Spielberg says the film is “too important” and the script is “just not ready.” The spokesman also adds that the current version is just too expensive to shoot causing them to rethink what is achievable.

Too expensive for Spielberg? That sounds awesome!! If you’re going to make a movie about killer robots enslaving humanity with Chris Hemsworth attached to star, it sure as fudge had better be too expensive. That’s the kind of stuff audiences like to see. Do this one and take the hit. He owes us after those Transformers movies. (THR)

I could dimly lay out the premise, but suffice it to say, it’s science fiction and involves wormholes, alternate realities, and time travel. Oh, and it’s based on the works of a gravitational physicist, so you know the characters will be relatable.

The film recently had Steven Spielberg attached to it, who probably would have laid it out in a nice, linear fashion and used heavy-symbolism that we could all keep up with. That sounds much nicer.

Might be time for Jafar Panahi to quit his day job. The Iranian filmmaker was arrested in 2009 for publicly mourning protesters who were killed while demonstrating against presidential election results (psst… hey Iran. I also heard Brett Ratner was there). Now he’s being sentenced to six years in prison (not the sexy kind from cable television), and being banned from filmmaking for twenty.

Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Francis Ford Coppola have spoken out publicly in support of Panahi, and an appeal has been called for. Says Scorcese, “C’mon. It’s not like he directed Yogi Bear.”

Granted, this seems extreme to those of us in the western world. But is it really all that bad? He’s only banned from filmmaking, not film developing. And I heard FotoMat is hiring. Dude will be fine. (The Guardian)

The Arrested Development: The Movie of biopics, Spielberg’s Lincoln, has suffered a further set-back. After years of waiting around and releasing Krakens and playing Jedi Masters and A-Team leaders, Liam Neeson is reportedly out this bitch. The formerly-attached star revealed to the UK’s GMTV that he’s "past his sell-by date" for the project. It’s unclear what he meant by that. Either he’s tired of waiting on Spielberg to get around to filming, or he’s aged too much to convincingly play the part. At any rate, Spielberg can expect a receipt in the mail from Neeson for one stovepipe hat. And he’d better not dilly-dally on paying. (Digital Spy)

Although his name has been attached to a slew of projects recently, Steven Spielberg has set his sights on Harvey as his next to direct. James Stewart starred in the original as a man who’s best friend is a six-foot tall invisible rabbit. No word yet on casting or the unnecessary special effects that will bastardize this remake but let’s see, who in Hollywood could pull off a protagonist who sees things that may or may not be there? Joaquin Pheonix, put down your microphone and dookie gold ropes. Steven Spielberg needs you. (The Playlist)

Variety reports that Steven Spielberg is set to produce a biopic about the life of inspiring civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.. The King Estate has granted Dreamworks unprecedented access to the intellectual property of Dr. King including his famous, "I Have A Dream" speech. It goes without saying that this is an important film and I sincerely hope that it is done intelligently and respectfully.

In other words, don’t let George Lucas near it.
