<description><![CDATA[Leno is leaving for real this time.]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/jay-leno-452/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Jay Leno</a> leaving <em>The Tonight Show</em> for real this time and <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/jimmy-fallon-713/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Jimmy Fallon</a> taking over those hosting duties, NBC has confirmed suspicions that <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/seth-meyers/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Seth Meyers</a> will replace Fallon as <em>Late Night</em> host. &#8220;It always seemed like a logical next move,&#8221; says the <em>SNL</em> veteran and <em>Weekend Update</em> host. &#8220;It was just competing with the very emotional idea of leaving a place I have been for a very long time. But if you are going to do that, it seems like you might as well just move a hallway or two.&#8221; Makes sense. He probably won&#8217;t even need to hire movers.</p>
<p>Meyers will wrap up <em>SNL&#8217;s</em> fall season before moving to <em>Late Night</em> this winter, and then probably return to <em>SNL</em> when Leno decides he&#8217;s not giving up <em>The Tonight Show</em> after all. (<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/13/business/media/seth-meyers-to-succeed-fallon-on-late-night.html?hp&amp;_r=0" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">NY Times</a>)</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Still not ready for primetime.]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We&#8217;ve been left to wonder all summer whether or not <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/jason-sudeikis-625/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Jason Sudeikis</a> would return for the next season of SNL. During last season&#8217;s finale, <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/kristen-wiig-45/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Kristen Wiig</a> was given an emotional send-off while Sudeikis looked pissed off in the wings. Next, <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/andy-samberg-763/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Andy Samberg</a> announced that he was leaving as well. That left us all to wonder what Suds was going to do.</p>
<p>And now, the word is in that he&#8217;ll return at least until January. Says Lorne Michaels:</p>
<blockquote><p>“Jason is in,” Mr. Michaels, the show’s executive producer, said in an interview Tuesday night.</p>
<p>He was referring, of course, to Jason Sudeikis, the longtime cast member who, since the show’s finale last May, has been the subject of many rumors that he would be departing after <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/seven-50/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>seven</a> seasons. Mr. Michaels said he was relieved to have the comedian back in the cast this season. [<a href="http://widget.uproxx.com/b/24/http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/12/jason-sudeikis-and-his-romney-impression-to-stay-at-saturday-night-live/?smid=tw-mediadecodernyt&amp;seid=auto" rel="nofollow">NY Times</a>]</p></blockquote>
<p>Is this due to the election? It seems so. As the show&#8217;s only white guy he is obligated to continue portraying <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/mitt-romney/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Mitt Romney</a> and Joe Biden. After that, all bets are off. He&#8217;ll have to be released eventually as demand for him to play the horny best friend in goofy comedies is at an all-time <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/high/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>high</a>.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When <em><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/snl-movie-spinoff-success/" target="_blank">SNL</a></em> wrapped up its season this past Saturday, they ended with an emotional sketch sending off <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/jim-rash-and-nat-faxon-making-kristen-wiig-an-action-star/" target="_blank">Kristen Wiig</a>. It&#8217;s been widely speculated that Wiig would leave the show to pursue brighter pavilions. But what of the other cast members who were expected to hang it up?</p>
<p><a href="http://www.thewrap.com/tv/article/snl-lorne-michaels-and-fred-armisen-whos-staying-and-whos-leaving-cast-40986" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">The Wrap</a> caught up with <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/lorne-michaels-939/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Lorne Michaels</a> to discuss the fates of <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/andy-samberg-763/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Andy Samberg</a> and <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/jason-sudeikis-625/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Jason Sudeikis</a>. Michaels was especially vague when asked of any cast additions or departures.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;You never know,&#8221; Michaels said. &#8220;I think everyone gets through the season and just the level of fatigue by the end is just overwhelming, and it&#8217;s a very emotional time. I&#8217;ve had a rule since the second season, which is to not make any decisions in June. We&#8217;ll see in July.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>One cast member who has made mention of his intention to stay is Fred Armisen. He noted that he hopes to continue his work on both <em>Portlandia</em> and <em>SNL</em> as he has done for the past two seasons. Otherwise, he&#8217;ll have to find another outlet for his creepy genius.</p>

<description><![CDATA[Who says politicians can't be funny? Almost everyone.]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It’s looking like <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/if-you-support-mitt-romney-you-might-be-a-redneck/" target="_blank">Mitt “Mittens” Romney</a> is in position to take the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/republican/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Republican</a> nomination this summer for the presidential election, which means that he’s got about six months to turn himself into one heckuva likable guy.</p>
<p>Of course, that means a mandatory stop on <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/expect-some-cast-shake-ups-at-snl/" target="_blank">SNL</a> to prove that he can laugh at himself.</p>
<p>What once was a charming, spontaneous act by some politicians has started to feel a little forced, like the show and the candidate are going through the motions.</p>
<p>That’s not to say that all the appearances have been duds, but any time you get a non-performer on stage to make people laugh, the results will be mixed. Here are a half-dozen examples of which way these cameos can go.</p>
<p>Don’t forget to vote this November.</p>
<h4>Rudy Giuliani</h4>
<p><object width="512" height="288" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="src" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/Pmvqm3veDjc65jlpyhn9EQ" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed width="512" height="288" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/Pmvqm3veDjc65jlpyhn9EQ" allowFullScreen="<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/true/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>true</a>&#8221; allowfullscreen=&#8221;true&#8221; /></object></p>
<p>Giuliani and SNL enjoyed a very symbiotic <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/relationship/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>relationship</a> during his tenure as Mayor. He comforted America when the show returned after 9/11, reminding the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/country/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>country</a> that it’s okay to laugh again, though not necessarily at SNL, because it’s not always that funny.</p>
<p>While Giuliani was never the most charismatic speaker or guest on SNL, he did feel like a godfather of the show, and that bit of goodwill made everyone a little more at ease, and a little more inclined to laugh. Even the fact that he’s championing his efforts to clean up the city doesn’t seem so self-aggrandizing, but rather a little charming.</p>
<p>Giuliani’s genuine enthusiasm for being on the show, coupled with Norm Macdonald’s mumbly creepiness makes for one of the successful appearances by a politician on SNL.</p>
<p>Don’t get too excited, though. They’re not all winners.</p>
<h4>Janet Reno</h4>
<p><iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TyACwczjGTs" frameborder="0" width="420" height="315"></iframe></p>
<p>In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, SNL had a real problem. That problem was that the show couldn’t offer up an impression or spoof of a celebrity without having that celebrity on one of the shows to “confront” the cast member doing the impersonation. Even the first time I remember it being done (Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro), it felt forced and cheap, and every subsequent time more so.</p>
<p>Here’s an example of a bizarre funny sketch that at no point needed an appearance by the actual Janet Reno. Further, seeing her dancing doesn’t really do anything other than make my eyes bleed. Sure, she’s a <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/good/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>good</a> sport for sanctioning this mockery, but that doesn’t exactly make her funny, now does it?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Looks like the burgeoning <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/movie/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>movie</a> careers of <em><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/snl-movie-spinoff-success/" target="_blank">Saturday Night Live</a></em> <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/cast/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>cast</a> members are forcing the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/show/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>show</a> to hire some new faces for us to unfairly criticize (at least until they impress us with their <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/mitt-romney/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Mitt Romney</a> impressions). <a href="http://splitsider.com/2012/02/snl-looking-to-add-new-castmembers-held-auditions-this-week-in-nyc" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Splitsider</a> reports that a range of hopefuls from <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/new-york/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>New York</a>, <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/chicago/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Chicago</a>, and <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/los-angeles/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Los Angeles</a> recently auditioned for <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/lorne-michaels-sees-more-30-rock-with-or-without-alec-baldwin/" target="_blank">Lorne Michaels</a>, Seth Myers, and other <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/producers/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>producers</a>.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s unclear how many new performers will join the cast or which performers will be departing, but it would make sense that <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/kristen-wiig-45/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Kristen Wiig</a> would move on to more carefully chosen projects while <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/jason-sudeikis-625/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Jason Sudeikis</a> will take the horny guy role in literally every upcoming <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/comedy-152/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>comedy</a>.</p>

<description><![CDATA[Welcome To The Club, Lana Del Rey...]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/internet-891/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Internet</a> sensation Lana Del Rey performed on <em><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/snl-and-shy-ronnie-are-thieves/" target="_blank">Saturday Night Live</a></em> over the weekend, and her performance is being called one of the worst in the show’s long, long history. Though new to the music landscape, she had already been met with skepticism, with many feeling her indie credibility was largely manufactured, a position that was supported by her shoddy performance.</p>
<p>She was selected for the show due exclusively to buzz, as her output at the time of her selection consisted of a two-song web EP. As such, it would appear that Del Rey wasn’t prepeared for the gig. She appeared visibly nerous and seemed to make several mistakes during the performances, prompting no less than <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/lana-del-rey-saturday-night-live-snl-brian-williams-282412" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Brian Williams to write an email</a> to Gawker panning her performance.</p>
<p>Here are a handful of other notorious <em>SNL</em> performances that would have undoubtedly upset <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/watch-30-rock-in-animated-form/" target="_blank">Brian Williams </a>as well.</p>
<h4>Ke$ha</h4>
<p><iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZGcFdntXhI0" frameborder="0" width="560" height="315"></iframe></p>
<p>The performances here fall into two groups, largely. Performances by shitty artists that are as shitty as the artists themselves and performances by decent artists that are shitty. This performance is the former.</p>
<p>It’s unclear what makes Ke$ha a star, so I’m comfortable assuming it’s her eagerness to get on her back for everyone in the music industry, from record execs to the guys that sell bootleg t-shirts outside concert venues.</p>
<p>This performance would seem to support my theory, as this video defies all logic blending astronauts, patriotism, and lots of spectacle with a song that’s pretty much about being a drunk white trash whore.</p>
<p>This performance is exactly as good as it should be.</p>
<h4>Sinead O’Connor</h4>
<p><iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2dKdBlKgquw" frameborder="0" width="420" height="315"></iframe></p>
<p>This will sound horribly jaded, but I find it quaint that, as recently as 1992, people were mortified by the fact that Sinead O’Connor tore up a picture of the pope at the end of her a capella rendition of “War,” urging the audience and viewers to “fight the real enemy.” What do you think would happen if someone like Adele tore up a picture of Pope Benedict next weekend? I would guess you would hear a hiccup, a squeaky fart, then some polite applause.</p>
<p>Adding to the haunting nature of O’Connor’s performance is Lorne Michaels’ now-infamous decision to not light up the applause sign, creating an even more uncomfortable silence all the way to <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/commercial-587/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>commercial</a>.</p>

<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/fox-651/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Fox</a> <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/entertainment/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Entertainment</a> <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/president/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>President</a> Kevin Reilly announced the new strategy at the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/tca/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>TCA</a> press tour over the weekend. He noted that one of the problems with the Fox Sunday night block of <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/animated/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>animated</a> programming is that a lot of material is developed that could never work in prime-time. It only makes sense to air that stuff after Grandma goes to bed.</p>
<p><em>Adult Swim&#8217;s</em> Nick Weidenfeld and <em>Warren the Ape&#8217;s</em> Hend Baghdad have been placed in charge of the new unit, which is expected to role out the new late-night Saturday slate in January of 2013. Fingers crossed that this awesome idea isn&#8217;t perverted into the animated adventures of Nick Cannon and <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/wanda-sykes/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Wanda Sykes</a>. <description><![CDATA[You know your balls taste great when an ice cream is named in their honor. Congratulations, Alec Baldwin!]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>You know your balls taste great when an ice cream is named in their honor. Congratulations, <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/alec-baldwin-934/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Alec Baldwin</a>! That&#8217;s right. Ice cream makers <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/genres-tv/reality/flavor-of-love-girls/" target="_blank">Ben &amp; Jerry</a> have concocted &#8220;Schweddy Balls,&#8221; a new <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/genres-tv/reality/flavor-of-love-girls/" target="_blank">flavor</a> based off Baldwin&#8217;s famous NPR-skewering <em>Saturday Night Live</em> skit.</p>
<p>Ben &amp; Jerry&#8217;s spokesman Sean Greenwood says, &#8220;We&#8217;ve always been a company that has had a sense of humor.&#8221; Sometimes, he said, they spend time discussing serious business and other times &#8220;we just do fun.&#8221; And what&#8217;s more fun than double entendre?</p>
<p>Schweddy Balls will be available for a limited time in about 30 percent of stores that carry Ben &amp; Jerry&#8217;s ice cream. In honor of the new flavor, here are seven movie and TV inspired flavors that Ben &amp; Jerry&#8217;s should totally make.</p>
<h4>Truffle Shuffle</h4>
<p>Get that gut jiggling in no time! Vanilla ice cream loaded with chunks of chocolate truffles and broken bits of Baby Ruth. You&#8217;ll have no trouble gaining access to the gate, but you might have some trouble fitting through it!</p>
<h4>Everybody Loves Rum Raisin</h4>
<p>This Italian-inspired gelato will take you home again. This creamy dessert boasts succulent rum-soaked raisins, so don&#8217;t plan on driving home from the scoop shop! Unless your brother is a cop.</p>
<h4>The Human Centipede&#8217;s Fudge Tunnel</h4>
<p>Wait until you wrap your lips around this Core Concoction. Based upon the hit film <em>The Human Centipede</em>, it&#8217;s three layers of vanilla, strawberry, and <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/asian/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Asian</a> green tea surrounding a column of dark <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/german/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>German</a> fudge. Perfect to share with friends!! You won&#8217;t be able to keep your mouth off of it.</p>
<h4>Game Of Cones</h4>
<p>Winter is coming. And it&#8217;s going to be delicious! This cold strawberry-swirled pint is packed with chocolate-coated waffle cone. Everyone is losing their heads about it.</p>
<h4>Rocky Road Trip: <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/beer/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Beer</a> Pong</h4>
<p>It&#8217;s time to hit <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/the-road-555/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>the road</a> to Flavor Country. This vanilla malt is overflowing with peanut <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/butter-164/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>butter</a>, pretzels, and chocolate mice. Grab your brosefs and pledge that you love it. Proceeds from all sales go to paying DJ Qualls&#8217; rent.</p>
<h4>Total Reese&#8217;s-Call</h4>
<p>There&#8217;s no way you can forget how delicious this recipe tastes. Reese&#8217;s Peanut Butter Cups and Reese&#8217;s Pieces blended together in red cocoa ice cream will simply take your breath away. Made exclusively with cream from three-uddered cows, your eyes will <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/bug/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>bug</a> out for this taste of the future!!</p>
<h4>Kramer vs. Krispy Kremer</h4>
<p>Life is so full of <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/tough/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>tough</a> choices. But there should be no difficulty picking your favorite ice cream. This glazed donut flavored treat is a no brainer. Heaping with generous amounts of rainbow and chocolate sprinkles, will it be your favorite? You be the judge!!</p>

<description><![CDATA[According to this SNL Digital Short.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Michael Bolton is probably most famous for providing the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/inspiration/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>inspiration</a> for a character&#8217;s name in <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/genres-movies/scifi/office-space-movie-quotes/" target="_blank"><em>Office Space</em></a>. But after watching this <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/music-video-66/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>music video</a> from <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/andy-samberg-brought-in-to-defeat-the-curse-of-rashida-jones-screenplay/" target="_blank">Andy Samberg</a> <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/et/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>et</a> al, I think his designation as a &#8220;no-talent assclown&#8221; in that movie was a little unfair. Not only is he a good singer, but he does a pretty uncanny <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/al-pacino-45/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Al Pacino</a> in <em>Scarface</em>!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a pretty <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/funny-video-163/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>funny video</a>, which should be no surprise given that the Digital Shorts are routinely the best part of &#8220;SNL&#8221; these days. Captain Jack Sparrow!</p>

<description><![CDATA[Looks like mother-lovin' Justin Timberlake will host this year's final episode of "SNL." ]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/justin-timberlake-snl.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-207869" style="margin-left: 7px; margin-right: 7px;" title="justin-timberlake-snl" src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/justin-timberlake-snl.jpg" alt='' width="300" height="225" /></a>Wow, that title was a bit of a stretch. However, this Twitter-based rumor is far from it: looks like <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/justin-timberlake-goes-through-a-kriss-kross-phase-in-friends-with-benefit-trailer/" target="_blank">Justin Timberlake</a> will host this year&#8217;s final episode of &#8220;<a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/kenan-thompson-the-next-to-guard-legacy-of-snl-films-with-party-starters/" target="_blank">SNL</a>&#8221; on May 21st.</p>
<p>T-Lake&#8217;s been on&#8221;<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/shows/saturday-night-live' target='_blank'>Saturday Night Live</a>&#8221; so many times, I think they&#8217;re gonna finally give him the infamous &#8220;Official <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/steve-martin-432/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Steve Martin</a> &#8216;SNL&#8217; Hangout Guy Plaque.&#8221; So it makes sense to have him host the finale, which is typically a strong episode with a proven host. Last year&#8217;s May finale host was <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/alec-baldwin-card-has-been-pulled-for-another-woody-allen-film/" target="_blank">Alec Baldwin</a>, and the year before was <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/will-ferrells-casa-de-mi-padre-trailer-is-hilarious-maybe/" target="_blank">Will Ferrell</a>. I&#8217;m sure <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/andy-samberg-brought-in-to-defeat-the-curse-of-rashida-jones-screenplay/" target="_blank">Andy Samberg</a> is already thinking about a Digital Short to end all Digital Shorts. I assume it won&#8217;t be a musical number of some kind.</p>
<p>How was this found out? The news was leaked via a Twitter conversation &#8211; not a Twitter war, sadly. Here&#8217;s what went down: an &#8220;SNL&#8221; follower wrote&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>I didn’t realize that @nbcsnl isn’t back until May 7th!!! What am I going to do!? Is <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/tina-fey-154/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Tina Fey</a> the season finale!? #SNL #aaahhhh</p></blockquote>
<p>To which one of the show&#8217;s Twitterators replied:</p>
<blockquote><p>Nope! We have Timberlake after that!</p></blockquote>
<p>The tweet has since been <a href="http://twitter.com/#%21/nbcsnl/status/60378546060804097" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">deleted</a>. However <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/the-box' target='_blank'>the box</a> has been opened. The dick has been revealed, mother lovers. (<a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/19/justin-timberlake-on-saturday-night-live_n_851201.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Huffington Post</a>)</p>

<description><![CDATA[In honor of his new program, we've put together nine ridiculously funny Norm MacDonalnd moments. It's a great way to pad an article with Youtube videos.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/norm-macdonald.jpg"><img src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/norm-macdonald.jpg" alt='' title="norm-macdonald" width="500" height="365" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-206765" /></a></p>
<p>Tonight, <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/norm-macdonald-developing-sports-show-for-comedy-central/" target="_blank">Norm MacDonald&#8217;s</a> new show, &#8220;<a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/sports-show-with-norm-macdonald-premieres-tonight-on-comedy-central/" target="_blank">Sports Show with Norm MacDonald</a>,&#8221; premieres on <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/comedy-central-538/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Comedy Central</a>. I&#8217;m <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/films/big-fan' target='_blank'>big fan</a> of Norm, so I&#8217;ll be turning in. After all, I&#8217;m not going to pass up a chance to watch the man who eviscerated the ESPY&#8217;s host his vary own sports show. And in honor of his new program, I&#8217;ve put together nine ridiculously funny Norm MacDonalnd moments. It&#8217;s a great way to look back at the offbeat humor that has fueled his career. It&#8217;s also a great way to pad an article with <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/youtube-968/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Youtube</a> videos. Enjoy.</p>
<h4>9. The White House Correspondence Dinner</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/d5kpXhq5nHM?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>When performing in front of someone as important as the President of the United States, most <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/comedians/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>comedians</a> would chose to play it safe. Not Norm. He chose to play it stupid. Not everyone got it, but considering the audience, that&#8217;s a good thing.</p>
<h4>8. &#8220;Who Wants to be a Millionaire&#8221;</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KPPUKCrB45s?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>This clip isn&#8217;t really funny, but I put it on the list anyway. Why? Because it proves that while MacDonald might play a buffoon, he&#8217;s actually quite smart. Then again, it was celebrity week, so I&#8217;m sure the questions were dumbed down. Even so.</p>
<h4>7. Weekend Update</h4>
<p><embed flashVars="playerVars=showStats=no|autoPlay=no|videoTitle=The Best of Weekend Update With <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/norm-macdonald-340/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Norm Macdonald</a>, Pt.1&#8243; src=&#8221;http://www.metacafe.com/fplayer/3754280/the_best_of_weekend_update_with_norm_macdonald_pt_1.swf&#8221; width=&#8221;550&#8243; height=&#8221;340&#8243; wmode=&#8221;transparent&#8221; allowFullScreen=&#8221;true&#8221; allowScriptAccess=&#8221;always&#8221; name=&#8221;Metacafe_3754280&#8243; pluginspage=&#8221;http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer&#8221; type=&#8221;application/x-shockwave-flash&#8221;></embed></p>
<p>It&#8217;s hard to narrow down one Norm MacDonald joke from all his years on Weekend Update. Luckily, someone else has compiled a bunch of them. All I had to do was copy and paste. God bless the Internet. At any rate, the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/michael-jackson-313/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Michael Jackson</a> jokes are fantastic.</p>
<h4>6. Norm Gets Fired</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tudRETrphxk?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>Former NBC President Don Ohlmeyer was good friends with O.J. Simpson. As such, Norm&#8217;s constant O.J. jokes didn&#8217;t go over too well. It&#8217;s rumored to be the reason Norm was canned from SNL&#8217;s Weekend Update. Either way, his termination made for a hilarious exit-interview on &#8220;The Late Show with David <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/letterman-490/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Letterman</a>.&#8221;</p>
<h4>5. Norm as Larry King</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/dK6qcvrF-4I?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>How do you make fun of a guy who makes as many random, nonsensical statements as <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/larry-king/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Larry King</a>? Bring in someone who is equally adept at making random, nonsensical statements. </p>
<h4>4. The Moth Joke</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3GWJC7tlYck?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>I hope you like long-form humor as much as I do, or else you&#8217;re not going to like this clip.</p>
<h4>3. <em>Dirty Work</em> &#8211; The Prison Rape Aftermath</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/pBe-eYM0fGc?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>Norm MacDonald is such a comedic genius that you don&#8217;t even have to be a fan of rape jokes to appreciate the humor in this scene from <em>Dirty Work</em>.</p>
<h4>2. Chairman of the &#8220;Bored&#8221;</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lL0WayC7jW0?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>All and all, Norm was actually a pretty big asshole to Courtney Thorne-Smith during her interview with <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/conan-416/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Conan</a> O&#8217;Brien. But at least it made for one of the funniest interviews in the history of the show.</p>
<h4>1. The ESPY Awards</h4>
<p><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="550" height="443" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xad-gL6jnm0?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>Here it is; the mother of all Norm MacDonald clips. From O.J., to Jordan, to Elway, no athlete was spared. I wonder why <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/espn-466/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>ESPN</a> never asked him back?</p>

<description><![CDATA[Dana Carvey hosted SNL this weekend, and Mike Myers joined him for the show's cold open, featuring a brand new installment of Aurora, Illinois' favorite public access show, Wayne's World.]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/dana-carvey/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Dana Carvey</a> hosted <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/jesse-eisenberg-to-host-snl-make-cast-extremely-uncomfortable/">SNL</a> this weekend. I think he did, although I could have just stepped into a halfway entertaining time machine and emerged in a bygone era of <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/late-night-988/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>late night</a> television. <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/mike-myers-484/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Mike Myers</a> joined Carvey for the show&#8217;s cold open, a new(!) episode of Aurora, Illinois&#8217; favorite public access show, <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-lists/10-funniest-famous-comedy-duos/">&#8220;Wayne&#8217;s World</a>.&#8221; The duo, looking every bit the same as the last time we saw them, recited their same old jokes in their same exact set. Seriously, do they have all the old sets and props in storage? Have they preserved <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/rob-schneider-101/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Rob Schneider</a>&#8216;s Makin&#8217; Copies-guys&#8217; Xerox machine somewhere? Stupid question, it&#8217;s clearly in the Smithsonian. The duo ran down their picks for the upcoming Academy Awards, and made numerous dick jokes about <em>Winter&#8217;s Bone</em>, or as is Myers&#8217; M.O., the same <em>Winter&#8217;s Bone</em> joke numerous times. The whole sketch, and episode, was mildly comforting and at the same time irritating, much like a childhood security blanket that&#8217;s gotten scratchy or threadbare from being washed too many times. It was fun to see that the jokes, sets, characters, and performers hadn&#8217;t changed a bit in 20 years, but that&#8217;s also what made it kind of a downer. Which means you missed this fun Digital Short starring <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/andy-samberg-763/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Andy Samberg</a> and <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/pee-wee-herman-takes-his-mean-machine-to-sturgis/" target="_blank">Pee-wee Herman</a>.</p>
<p>In the short, Samberg coaxes Herman off the milk-only wagon and learns that the beloved children&#8217;s entertainer has a bit of a problem. No, not that one. A drinking problem this time. Further proof that tequila changes a man. One minute your making ice cream soup with a room full of puppets, the next you&#8217;re assaulting police officers and respected news anchors. Totally reckless. Some <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/better-drinking-buddy-sheen-or-sutherland/" target="_blank">drinking buddies</a> are just bad for one another.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-17051" href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/jesse-eisenberg-to-host-snl-make-cast-extremely-uncomfortable/attachment/jesseis-4/"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-17051" style="margin-left: 7px; margin-right: 7px;" title="jesse eisenberg" src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/jesseis-4.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a>Watching <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/road-to-the-oscars-the-social-network/">Jesse Eisenberg</a>&#8216;s interview on <em><a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/19/jesse-eisenberg-conan-embarrassed_n_786112.html" rel="nofollow">Conan</a></em> made me realize that playing awkward, darkly weird Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in <em>The Social Network</em> may not have been that much of a stretch. Now he&#8217;s getting ready to host <em><a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/Video/links-away-snl-black-friday-sketch/">Saturday Night Live</a></em> on January 29th. I&#8217;m imagining the very end, where everybody hugs each other, and Eisenberg refuses to be touched. He just keeps staring at Abby Elliot. Staring and staring and staring. And she <em>knows</em> he&#8217;s staring. So Abby decides to avoid him at the wrap party afterwards. He goes home early and punches a framed <em>Zombieland</em> poster on the wall. &#8220;What&#8217;s WRONG with me?!&#8221;</p>
<p>Of course, if that were the case, his show would still be a lot better than the <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/mad-men-actress-january-jones/">January Jones</a> episode.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/dana-carvey/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Dana Carvey</a> will return to 30 Rockefeller Plaza on February 5th, which brings up an interesting question: <em>really?</em></p>
<p>I know he&#8217;s an SNL legend, and Church Lady can (and should) kick all of <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/kristen-wiig-is-a-clown-hooker-in-clown-girl/">Kristen Wiig</a>&#8216;s running characters&#8217; asses, but usually hosts have something to promote or have been working recently. Eh, y&#8217;know, screw it. If <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/mike-myers-484/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Mike Myers</a> is there and the whole episode is a giant Wayne&#8217;s World reunion, then I say, &#8220;party on, Dana Carvey!&#8221; *Plays Air Guitar* (<a href="http://www.tvsquad.com/2011/01/14/jesse-eisenberg-dana-carvey-to-host-saturday-night-live-jer/" rel="nofollow">TV Squad</a>)</p>

They always manage to churn out a catchy beat with a glossy, rap cliché-riddled music video. <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/like-a-boss-music-video-feat-andy-samberg-seth-rogen-uncensored/" target="_blank">Andy Samberg</a> and Jorma Taccone take the verses this time around with Akon handling the infectious hook. If you look hard you can catch <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/akiva-schaffer/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Akiva Schaffer</a>, the third Lonely Island member, giving the the guys a pedicure. Let&#8217;s all scream this groove from the rooftops next time we&#8217;re lucky enough to lay with a girl, in the biblical sense.</p>

I don&#039;t watch &#34;Saturday Night Live&#34; anymore, but I do watch the popular videos that make their way to the web the following Monday. This week, Jon Hamm hosted with musical guest Rihanna. Of course Andy Samberg and Rihanna did a digital short sequel to &#34;Shy Ronnie&#34; entitled &#34;Ronnie and Clyde.&#34; It&#039;s not as funny as the first, but Rihanna is hot and I like that she returns to the bank to snag hostage Jon Hamm so she can bang him.
Jon Hamm also appeared in a sketch in which he parodies Best Cry Ever Guy. If you don&#039;t know who that is, shame on you for not being more addicted to the Internet. You can check out the original video here and then the &#039;SNL&#039;-ized, Hamm-ized version after the jump.

&#34;Saturday Night Live&#38;rsquo;s&#34; new cast member Jay Pharoah does an impeccable Denzel Washington. He did a sketch about Washington working retail as research for a part, and Pharoah totally captured Washington&#38;rsquo;s sound, his cadence, his laugh. Washington heard about that a lot as he spoke to reporters about his new movie, Unstoppable.

The thing is, when I asked him if he heard the impression, he kind of started doing the impression back to me. He&#38;rsquo;s in a press conference with costars Rosario Dawson and Tony Scott. From the opening laughter to the way he turns the question around on me and tries to prod me, that&#38;rsquo;s exactly how Pharoah played it.

After the jump, take a listen to an audio clip of Washington sounding very much like the &#34;SNL&#34; version of Denzel Washington.

Amy Poehler will host the 36th season premiere of &#34;Saturday Night Live&#34; on September 25 with musical guest Katy Perry. That&#039;s on a Saturday. Considering that everyone is either leaving (Will Forte) or getting fired (possibly Jenny Slate), the &#34;SNL&#34; alum and star of &#34;Parks and Recreation&#34; might have to calm the nerves of newbie cast members.
Hopefully it won&#039;t turn out like last year&#039;s season premiere, in which Jenny Slate uttered the word &#34;f*ckin&#039;&#34; on live television. You can&#039;t do that kind of stuff, Jenny Slate! Now her head is on Lorne Michaels&#039;s chopping block. I don&#039;t watch the show anymore, but I&#039;ve been told by people who do that Slate is groan-worthy. If you&#039;re going to shoot off at the mouth like sailor you should at least get people laughing. Off with her head, Lorne! (Deadline)

Sorry all you Fart Face fans, but the man behind the character you love so dearly is packing his fart face up and traveling on. Will Forte will not return to &#34;Saturday Night Live&#34; for the show&#039;s 36th season. Neither NBC nor Forte&#039;s people would offer a P.C. response as to why, but apparently the split is &#34;amicable,&#34; like they always are according to lawyers.
The actor is now free to pursue other projects that aren&#039;t on Saturday night or live. The question is, can he remain relevant in movies for long if he&#039;s not continuely exposed to fans on &#34;SNL&#34;? MacGruber didn&#039;t do him any favors. I think Forte&#039;s a funny guy and all, but he&#039;s not exactly a household name like Will Ferrell was when he decided to jump Lorne Michael&#039;s ship. Unless your household is particularly fond of twisted, weird-ass sketches. In which case, your family should have dinner together more often. (Movieline)

<description><![CDATA[Bad news for MacGruber and Co. Despite a relentless Internet marketing campaign and surprisingly positive reviews (relatively speaking), the film has completely tanked at the box office. The Village Voice is reporting that the SNL spin off pulled in a paltry $4.1 million over the weekend, included a disastrous $1.5 million from its opening night. Even with a budget of only $10 million, the results are disappointing. And the worst part of it all is that MacGruber&#039;s failure has basically killed any chance of me selling my Goat Boy spec script. Screw you, Will Forte! You&#039;ve crushed my dreams, yet again! (Box Office Mojo)

<description><![CDATA[With the Will Forte vehicle MacGruber due out in theaters this Friday, I decided to look into the funny little history of &#34;Saturday Night Live&#039;s&#34; adventures on the silver screen. Generally the movies were spun off from their more popular sketches (how the Roxbury guys were popular, I&#039;ll never know).I wanted to grade SNL spinoffs that were regular sketches with regular cast members. I also wanted to compare the merits of each using the two only barometers for success that Hollywood has: critical reception and, of course, money. Further, I studied a particular SNL cast member, and their career success as compared to their SNL movie vehicle. Here are the results.  ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[&#34;Saturday Night Live&#34; is officially a hit again thanks to Betty White and her whore mouth. The Facebook-supported, hood-approved actress officially rocked it and helped the show score its highest ratings since a pre-election November 2008 episode. Many of the episode&#039;s sketches coasted by on the &#34;Grandma says naughty words&#34; schtick of which White is clearly a master. In fact, her muffin sketch is all anyone is talking about today as cubicles everywhere tune into &#34;SNL&#34; via Hulu. I hope I don&#039;t get caught by the boss but whatever. It wouldn&#039;t be the first time I was fired because of an old woman&#039;s vagina. (Reuters)

<description><![CDATA[Hip grandma Betty White will soon be staying up nine hours past her bedtime. People caught up with the aged star at Elton John&#039;s Oscars viewing party where she confirmed the rumors that she will appear on an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live, though she doesn&#039;t know when. Originally, it was believed she would appear on a &#34;Women of Comedy&#34; episode alongside Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Molly Shannon but Lorne Michaels has shot down those reports.It&#039;s not known whether she will host or provide a cameo but White is just happy for to be a part of the confusing campaign. &#34;I don&#039;t know why or how,&#34; says White, &#34;but it&#039;s been wonderful.&#34; Though at the age of 88, I&#039;m sure more than a few things confuse her. Like young women nowadays always putting their elbows on the table. Back in her day, a lady knew how to ensnare a man. (People)

<description><![CDATA[We may have a problem on our hands as the combined might of college students and their Internet-savvy grandparents are realizing their strength. In the past week, not only have Facebook users managed to make a pickle more popular than Canadian ass-rockers Nickleback, but they may have also convinced Lorne Michaels to hire the dumb Golden Girl to host an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live. A group of Betty White-heads nearly half a million strong took to the social networking site and petitioned for their favorite octogenarian to headline the show. And now Michaels is reportedly trying to put together a show that will work with White&#039;s advanced age. From Michael Aussiello:White would not be hosting alone. Rather, I hear SNL is putting together a &#38;ldquo;Women of Comedy&#38;rdquo; episode that would team the former Rose Nylund with several of her younger contemporaries. Ex-SNL MVP Molly Shannon is on board, I hear, and feelers have also been put out to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. When told of the wellspring of support from her fans, White was reportedly thrilled/ready for dinner at 4pm. <description><![CDATA[I have to admit I don&#039;t watch Saturday Night Live much these days, but I do enjoy me a hilarious digital short every now and then. I feel like the Andy Samberg shorts are on a totally different level than the rest of the show. His heightened and irreverent humor always shines through, and he seems to get away with a ton of sh*t that never succeeds in the live skits. The Twizzle Wizzle short below is no exception. Imagine if The Wiggles did on television what I&#039;m sure they do when they go back to their homes every night. Forced happiness wears on a person...

<description><![CDATA[ First off, what&#039;s happening in the above picture? Moving on, this past Saturday Joseph Gordon-Levitt performed &#34;Make &#039;Em Laugh&#34; from Singin&#039; in the Rain on Saturday Night Live, and while he didn&#039;t put the stellar Donald O&#039;Connor to shame, he did complete some awesome wall flips.
