Carrie Anne-Moss And Malcolm McDowell Enlisted To Make Next ‘Silent Hill’ Less Awful

The Matrix‘s Carrie-Anne Moss and A Clockwork Orange‘s Malcolm McDowell have just been cast in Silent Hill: Revelation 3D as it currently shoots in Toronto. I always take it as an excellent sign when films sign actors while shooting is underway.

The aforementioned join Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harrington (nice stage name, dude) for the second installment of the film franchise. As we reported earlier, the film focuses on Clemens’ character wrestling with “forces she doesn’t fully understand.” It’s easy to see why McDowell and Moss were so eager to get involved with such a fully-fleshed-out concept. The second they heard there was a conflict represented, they couldn’t sign those contracts fast enough!

Kidding aside, this casting announcement at the very least lends some credibility to a film franchise that had been poorly-received and lost its lead actors after the original. I’m not saying it will be good, just…less bad. Maybe.

Actors Willingly Return To ‘Silent Hill’ Sequel

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D will not suffer a lack of continuity. It looks like new stars Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harington will have some company. Original stars Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, and Deborah Kara Unger have signed on to return for the sequel. It’s unclear whether their roles will be as large the second time around or if they’ll appear just long enough to be skinned alive.

Director Michael J. Bassett says via press release:

It wouldn’t be the same without some of the original Silent Hill cast. Sean, Radha and Deborah’s return will certainly thrill fans of the franchise and compliment Revelations stars Adelaide and Kit.

Oh good. They’re making the same movie. Just as suspected. I was concerned I would have to think. Phew!

‘Silent Hill’ 3D Sequel Signs Unknown Cast And Unknown Director For Unknown Audience

Good news for all those fans of the original Silent Hill adaptation in 2006! (*crickets chirping*) There is going to be a 3D sequel! (*fewer crickets chirping*) Starring a handful of actors that no one has ever heard of! (*crickets screaming, begging for death, followed by deafening silence*)

Silent Hill: Revelations 3D will address the relationship between protagonist Heather Mason and her dad, eventually causing her to believe that she’s not who she thinks she is. Heather Mason will be played by Adelaide Clemens, while unknown actor Kit Harrington will, fittingly, play an unknown role.

Just when you thought your excitement for this film had reached an insurmountable fever pitch, we’ve got more news for you. The film will be directed by Michael J. Bassett, whose latest film, Solomon Kane, didn’t get distributed in the US, probably due to something Barack Obama did. Or because it was awful. Whatever.

Just so we’re clear: A poorly-made adaptation of a video game is getting a sequel starring two unknown actors and a director who hasn’t had success getting anything distributed in these United States. But, hey! It’s gonna be in 3D!

Kinda bleak stuff, no? Here’s some more uplifting news. (THR)
