Today they’ve released the official title: Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows. I don’t believe they added a frightened stoner and Great Dane to the story, either.

How do we feel about this title? Did you need a colon added to pique your interest, or are you even less intrigued now? I do wonder about this game involving shadows though. What are the rules? How many players are allowed? And most importantly, can alcohol be integrated into it? (/Film)

Guy Ritchie was nice enough to share some exclusive footage from his new film Sherlock Holmes 2 with the good folks at “Entertainment Tonight,” and we were nice enough to hunt it down on the internet and share it with all of you. Sherlock Holmes 2 is the sequel to Ritchie’s 2009 adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s literary classic, starring Robert Downey Jr. as the titular detective Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law as his right hand man Watson. The first film was fun enough, and boasted some nice set pieces and some of the trademark directorial flair we’ve come to expect from Guy Ritchie. Enjoy the snarky charm, british accents, and, spoiler alert, Robert Downey Jr. in drag!
To the left, my dear Watson, is a brand new still from the motion picture 'Sherlock Holmes 2.' Examine it carefully for evidence!

To the left, my dear Watson, is a brand new still from the motion picture Sherlock Holmes 2, scheduled to be released December 16th. Look carefully, and you’ll see something in Mr. Robert Downey Jr.‘s hand — yes, it’s an envelope, but not just ANY ordinary envelope. No, this envelope has… uh… the manilla coloring means it’s… er… uhm… there are markings of an ancient… uh… clues?

Anyway, that’s a picture from the new Sherlock Holmes 2, you guys! Pretty cool stuff. Also cool are the recently released plot and scene description. First, the plot:

“Set in 1891 — a year after the last film’s events — the sequel shows Holmes continuing his pursuit of Professor Moriarty (played by Jared Harris), who, if the investigator’s instincts are correct, might be the world’s first supervillain. Watson, meanwhile, is still trying to be a good partner to his love, Mary Morstan (Kelly Reilly), while keeping Sherlock alive.”

Indeed, that sounds to be a difficult task for poor Mister Jude Law. Ah, but what of the scene description I discussed earlier? I shall present it to you thusly:

“On a frigid November morning, as steam rises from train engines burning fiery coal in a century-old rail depot, Sherlock Holmes is in trouble. Blood on the side of his face, he’s fleeing the staccato rat-tat-tat of 19th century gunfire. Fortunately, his loyal friend Dr. Watson is at his side, as is a rifle-toting gypsy. Outside the depot, Watson and Holmes fumble with their guns to get a bead on their assailants, but the gypsy woman, Sim, beats them to it. She confidently cocks her rifle. Boom! A man falls dead. On beat, Watson and Holmes look at each other with surprise.”

You can always rely on your gypsy woman friend to kill those dudes. Well, sounds like Team Sherlock is going back to the formula of light mystery mixed with tons of action, gunfire and if we’re lucky, more slow-motion face punching. I guess repeating the formula is an elementary decision. (JoBlo)

Warner Bros. is taking the holiday as an opportunity to give you a glimpse of what they’ve got planned for 2011. Here we have first looks at The Hangover 2, Sherlock Holmes 2, Horrible Bosses, Something Borrowed, Final Destination 5, and The Apparition (featuring Ashley Greene in her nightie). You may have seen set pics from these films before but these are the first official publicity stills. You haven’t seen this before. Except in the case of Ashley Greene. If you are a Jonas, you have seen her wearing much less.

Let’s have a look!!

The Hangover 2 – May 26th, 2011

Zach Galifianakis does not travel light.

Something Borrowed – June 10th, 2011

Kate Hudson in a wedding-themed romantic comedy? Seems like a refreshing change of pace.

Sherlock Holmes 2 - December 16th, 2011

Here’s our first look at Noomi Rapace‘s American film debut as I don’t know, a character from “F-Troop,” I guess.

Horrible Bosses – July 29th, 2011

When I quickly glanced at this, I thought it was Hall Pass. Or the more recent movie where Justin Long and Drew Barrymore are dating.

Final Destination 5 – August 26th, 2011

Don’t just stand there! Someone is being wine cellared to death!!

The Apparition – September 9th, 2011

Not sure why he gets to be fully-clothed. Not complaining, just not sure.

Sweet belt-buckle, bro!!
There's been a lot of speculation about who would end up playing Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2. The list of candidates for the role of Holmes's greatest enemy boasted big names such as Brad Pitt and Daniel Day Lewis. And now, the waiting is over. Without further ado, the man who will play Sherlock Holmes's archnemesis is.... "Mad Men's" Jared Harris. Wait, what? The nerd who got drunk and put a steak on his crotch? That's the guy we're talking about here? Shut the front door.
Latino Review broke the story first and I was skeptical. Then Collider confirmed the story and I was less leery, but this still seems like a long shot to me. Guy Ritchie does realize this movie will be playing in America, right?

Stephen Fry has joined the cast of Sherlock Holmes 2. Guy Ritchie's exxxtreme take on British literature will add Fry in the role of Holmes's older brother, Mycroft. Here's what the witty actor had to say of the part:
"I'm playing Mycroft in the sequel to the Sherlock Holmes film Guy Ritchie directed with Robert Downey Jr., and that sort of part is fun, but just once in a while to play a genuine all round sort of lead figure with complexity and tragedy and wit and all the sort of things that Oscar [Wilde] had was a once in a lifetime thrill."
Okay. Can someone translate that from British to English for me and let me know if it was witty or not? Anyway, in the original stories, Mycroft was considered just as brilliant as Sherlock but was lazy and unwilling to prove his deductions. There's no word yet how the character will be shaped in the sequel nor any on whether or not he'll be an exxxtreme cage fighter. (Bleeding Cool)

Stephen Fry has joined the cast of Sherlock Holmes 2. Guy Ritchie‘s exxxtreme take on British literature will add Fry in the role of Holmes’s older brother, Mycroft. Here’s what the witty actor had to say of the part:

"I’m playing Mycroft in the sequel to the Sherlock Holmes film Guy Ritchie directed with Robert Downey Jr., and that sort of part is fun, but just once in a while to play a genuine all round sort of lead figure with complexity and tragedy and wit and all the sort of things that Oscar [Wilde] had was a once in a lifetime thrill."

Okay. Can someone translate that from British to English for me and let me know if it was witty or not? Anyway, in the original stories, Mycroft was considered just as brilliant as Sherlock but was lazy and unwilling to prove his deductions. There’s no word yet how the character will be shaped in the sequel nor any on whether or not he’ll be an exxxtreme cage fighter. There's a clue inside the baby.
The original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Noomi Rapace has become the new "it" actress in Hollywood. She recently signed on to deliver death alongside Jeremy Renner in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, and now she's secured a role in Sherlock Holmes 2. The logline is being kept under wraps, but Noomi is said to be playing a French Gypsy. It is unclear if the role is romantic in nature. One would think Holmes would be smart enough to not trust a Gypsy, but when they cast an evil spell on you at a street fair you can't resist them. It's the only way I can explain the atrocious lamp in my living room. (THR)
