Seth Meyers To Take Over ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’; Carson Daly Still Just Doing The Same Thing

With Jay Leno leaving The Tonight Show for real this time and Jimmy Fallon taking over those hosting duties, NBC has confirmed suspicions that Seth Meyers will replace Fallon as Late Night host. “It always seemed like a logical next move,” says the SNL veteran and Weekend Update host. “It was just competing with the very emotional idea of leaving a place I have been for a very long time. But if you are going to do that, it seems like you might as well just move a hallway or two.” Makes sense. He probably won’t even need to hire movers.

Meyers will wrap up SNL’s fall season before moving to Late Night this winter, and then probably return to SNL when Leno decides he’s not giving up The Tonight Show after all. (NY Times)

Seth Meyers To Probably Be The Next Regis. Nods Politely

After making an inauspicious appearance in the world’s worst film, I Don’t Know How She Does It, Seth Meyers has probably realized that he isn’t cut out for the world of acting. Somehow, this led him to believe that he should be the first person people see when they get up in the morning, with sources saying that he’s close to taking a seat next to Kelly Ripa on the formerly titled Live with Regis and Kelly.

Unless he adopts the name “Regis” and all of Philbin’s affectations, I find this to be some terribly “blah” news. Seth Meyers? Morning shows? I feel like everyone involved could do better. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Only one man can fill Regis‘ tiny, tiny shoes – Sylvester Stallone.

This isn’t gonna be easy, guys. Above is the trailer for Sarah Jessica Parker‘s I Don’t Know How She Does It. Watching this trailer requires you to subject yourself to the following: a Parker-style voice-over, a story about the difficulties of being a mom, a mammogram joke that involves Kelsey Grammer, and pretty much all the things that make movies targeted to women terrible. The question is: how far can you make it through the trailer before getting frustrated, bored or both?

Directed by Douglas McGrath, and based on a book by female British author (natch) Allison Pearson, the film is about a business woman who must attain balance between work and home life. “Is such a thing possible,” all you middle aged female Screen Junkies readers are surely wondering to yourselves. You’ll want to be first in line to see I Don’t Know How She Does It on September 16, 2011 to find out.

Also starring Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Christina Hendricks Olivia Munn and Seth Meyers, so if Parker wasn’t the lead, at least the cast would have interested me.

Katherine Heigl To Serve As Sub-Halle Berry

The world has been breathlessly awaiting the romantic pair of Halle Berry and Jon Bon Jovi in the upcoming film New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately for the world (and fortunately for Halle Berry, hey-o!), Halle Berry is being replaced by America’s sweetheart Katherine Heigl (maybe she can also star in a parody “Nude Year’s Eve“).

Apparently, Heigl just adopted some poor kid and was looking for a project that wouldn’t require a huge time commitment. New Year’s Eve fits the bill, since as a follow up to Garry Marshall’s surprise hit Valentine’s Day it’s a big ensemble piece. Just a couple pinches of Heigl, as opposed to a whole dish. Dunno why I went with a food metaphor but whatever. New Year’s Eve will also star (deep breath) Robert De Niro, Sofia Vergara, Russell Peters, Hilary Swank, Ice Cube, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Josh Duhamel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Abigail Breslin, Seth Meyers, Jessica Biel and Til Schweiger. ‘New Year’s Eve’ Cast Adds Seth Meyers And Bon Jovi For The Sake Of Art

Bon Jovi and Seth Meyers, the two most lauded actors of our generation, are set to join the cast of Garry Marshall‘s New Year’s Eve, which picks up where Valentine’s Day didn’t leave off. Apparently, Marshall’s approach to movie making has been “hit ‘em with stars until the audience don’t know what’s what.” This all started with Love Actually, and has seemed to become the cinematic equivalent of Twitter.

According Hollywood Reporter, Meyers and, uh, Jovi join a cast that also includes Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank and Sofia Vergara. If Valentine’s Day is any indication, look for that cast to double in size before production. Bon Jovi will be playing a rock star and Meyers will be playing a broke dad that tries to get his wife to have the first baby of the year so that they can get a $25,000 prize. Heady, heady stuff.

New Year’s Eve is an ensemble film that follows around approximately a billion characters as they do the kinda stuff that people do on New Year’s Eve, like induce their wife’s labor for money.
