Box Office Success Spawns ‘Piranha 3D’ Sequel
Monday, August 23 by

"We're actresses!"
Good news for people who like breasts and carnivorous fish! A sequel for Piranha 3D is officially in the works.

Despite a slower than expected start at the box office, the film did fairly well when considering its budget was only $30 million. Couple that with an overwhelmingly positive critical reception, and it's easy to see why the Weinsteins and Co. signed off another installment.

Since the fourth dimension is time, I'm assuming Piranha 4D will involve the piranhas taking control of some sort of water-based time machine and traveling back to the Old West. Unless, of course, they end up naming it Piranha 3D Part 2, which would just be stupid. (Cinema Blend)

PEE-WEE HERMAN STAGES HIS COMEBACK
Tuesday, August 11 by

1980's nostalgia continues to boom as Paul Reubens has announced that he'll be dusting off the red bow-tie. The LA Times reports that Pee-wee Herman will perform onstage in Hollywood this November for a limited engagement at the Music Box @ Fonda. Perhaps if this run is successful it will lead to the big screen productions Reubens has been trying to get off the ground for the last nine years. The actor stated, "I've put part of him away for a long time but part of him has always been here with me. I think it will be like riding a bike — which is not a bad analogy for Pee-wee, by the way." Although his humor is off the beaten track, I'm glad that Reubens decided to pound the pavement and put this show together. His laziness was beginning to rub me the wrong way. On an unrelated note, I wonder if he listens to The Strokes?Check out these big adventurous morning links…Exclusive interview with District 9 director Neill Blomkamp. ‘GLADIATOR 2′ HAS A SCRIPT ?!?!?
Friday, May 8 by

Joey, do you like sequels about gladiators? For those of us who’ve seen Ridley Scott’s Gladiator, it’s probably a safe bet to say the story of Russell Crowe’s Maximus has already reached a satisfying end.  (If you haven’t seen it and you don’t mind SPOILERS… Maximus dies at the end after accomplishing all he set out to do, leaving no room for sequels per se).Yep, there is absolutely no way an audience could ever expect anything more from Crowe and Scott’s collaboration.  A sequel – aside from being completely unnecessary – seems nearly impossible.  Where’s the entry point?  There is no way the talent involved would even think about approaching a sequel to such a celebrated, complete story.  Right? What?  We’re talking about Hollywood?  In 2009?  Oh.  Ahem.  Right.Turns out that Nick Cave, writer of Australian western The Proposition and the upcoming adaptation of The Road, has written out a Gladiator 2 script that the folks over at Gone Elsewhere got a hold of.  If you’re into lengthy reviews, then you can check it out on their site.  If you’re into the Cliff Notes, then look no further than the jump.
