Everyone's favorite lamb silencer is in talks to play the 'Psycho' director.

Alfred Hitchcock was one of the greatest movie directors of all-time, but his life wasn’t nearly as exciting as getting attacked in the shower by a crazy cross-dressing murderer. Maybe that’s why the writer/director developing the Hitchcock biopic, Sacha Gervasi (Anvil! The Story of Anvil), is in talks with everyone’s favorite lamb silencer Anthony Hopkins to spice things up a bit.

I can see it now. “Hello Alma,” ultra super creepy Hitchcock (played by Hopkins) says to his wife and editor Alma Reville in a disturbing whisper. “I think you need to cut a little bit more off that scene,” he says, brandishing a large knife. “Which part? The tail end or the head,” Alma asks, her attention focused on the editing deck. “How about… the neck.” He slices her throat, just like what happened in real life. Yes, that really happened, don’t consult Wikipedia or his many biographies.

Actually, Hopkins has been rumored to play the North By Northwest director for years, when Ryan Murphy was attached to the project. Murphy’s version didn’t come together, and he later went on to create something far scarier than anything Hitchcock ever made: “Glee.” (/Film)

A Hitchcock biopic has been a temptation in Hollywood for so many years, and is now being put into development by Anvil! The Story of Anvil director Sacha Gervasi.

Alfred Hitchcock is one of the most popular figures in movies despite having been dead for 3 decades. He remains one of the only directors the name of who actually means something to the average consumer — that’s why you see his name and image above the title on his DVD releases, for instance. This phenomenon isn’t merely attributable to the fact that he made great thrillers– after all, lots of people have made great movies over the years, and none of them have achieved the level of stardom Hitchcock had in his prime. The reason for this is that in addition to being a great director, he also had a great personality. He put himself in front of the camera whenever possible and let his sense of humor and charisma carry him into the hearts of America. This is probably why a Hitchcock biopic has been a temptation in Hollywood for so many years, and is now being put into development by Anvil! The Story of Anvil director Sacha Gervasi.

The movie is set to be about the period of Hitch’s life during which he made his most popular film, Psycho. You know who looks a lot like Anthony Perkins, the star of Psycho? Andrew Garfield. And it will take Spider-Man to make Alfred Hitchcock‘s boring off-screen life seem interesting.
